What You Need to Know...

Some helpful tips for tomorrow night’s game:

1)      Get there early. Remember ALL the tickets sold were “will call,” so everyone will be in line to get their tickets and then have to get in another line to get in.
2)      The nice new entrance on 120th Street is the only place where you can pick up tickets, AND that’s the entrance that has to block fans from getting to their seats except during timeouts. So if you don’t get there well before the game, you might miss some of the action. The doors for the box office on 120th will open at 5pm, so be ready.
3)      That said, I consider the creation of that new box office and entrance on 120th to be one of the most fan-friendly changes CU has made in years. I believe it opened last year or the year before, but it’s a nice space and allows for much easier access. No longer do fans have to walk all the way through campus or hope that one of the loading docks on Broadway or Amsterdam is clear.
4)      Parking is available at a number of garages very close to that 120th entrance. See the bottom of this link for more info.

I’m being told that students get in free to the game, which is great. I know it’s still technically spring break, but I’m betting a good number of students will be back on campus by tomorrow afternoon. And the students who in the general New York area now have a good reason to return just a little early.

Great point, Jake.

Guaranteed there will be a huge line, so I suggest you either get there early to get your tix and sit, or if you have tix, go via the campus tunnel from the south. 120th will be mobbed at game time and it's only one door.

Go Lions!!!

We are 2 1/2 point favorites.
I don't understand this. EMU is far higher up the RPI ranking than we are.
If Vegas indeed has some accurate insight, it simply points out the significance of home court advantage, as that is the only reason I can imagine for this. That said, this goes again to the logic of our initial decision to play the first game away.
We got away with that, at the very last second. But why did we give up home-court in the first place.
Let's hope tonite goes the way the gamblers predict. Go Lions.

Coach Smith sees this tournament as a learning experience pointing to next season and beyond. He wanted us to learn how to win on the road. We did. He wanted us to extend the season. We have. He want the us to go up some good competition. We are.

Great win against legitimate D1 team. EMU was tough. We looked great when it counted.

Columbia had to solve the 2-3 zone, and with the help of the sixth man, our home crowd, they did with 9 mins left to play. We turned a 6 point deficit into an 8 point lead and never looked back. It got very LOUD during our 14-0 run.....this was a character builder.

And somehow we get the rubber game with Yale at home. Great enthusiasm last night. It makes all of us realize the benefits of having a winning team. It really brings the community together.

Nice, well-earned win against a poised, very well coached team. Sat behind the family of EMU's no. 3. He's a grad student going for his master's and using his final year of eligibility after graduating from somewhere else, and wants to teach and coach. Kid with genuine accomplishments from a nice family - we need more of these guys. (I doubt very much programs like UConn and Louisville, with their notoriously low graduation rates, will ever spawn someone similar.)

From the official number and the empty seats seen in the video, the place wasn't packed. Of course, the students are on break, so we can't tell if a good Lion team will necessarily result in serious support.

It's league-wide that this generation isn't hugely interested. And, an Eastern Mich. player was quoted in a paper, lamenting the lack of attendance for its home games throughout this past year. There were fewer than 400 for their earlier CIT home contest.

That's a shame about EMU attendance. They had an excellent record and are a quality team.
Recognizing the tertiary value (behind NCAA and then NIT) of the CIT is important. It is meaningful to CU mainly as a rep and confidence builder, and to provide an all-too-absent bright spot for CU athletics. It gives us a step up for next season.
At this point we have 21 wins. Who would ever have thought that possible in November? If we knock off Yale, we can seriously consider ourselves as the #2 Ivy team.
Great job, team.

Maybe not packed, but a very good crowd on very short notice in light of the fact that the students were on break. Coach Smith was pleased that we still had over 2,000 in the stands despite the fact that the only publicity was from our ADDept. Let's pack the place against Yale.

I don't see anything posted at the CIT site yet about quarterfinal matchups. How is it known CU will play Yale at home? If that is true that is a deliberate mercy matchup by CIT. The other east coast teams - VMI and Towson - are just a wee bit more dangerous. Still, whichever Ivy wins will have to face one of those teams. .
