First Look: Marist

TE Anthony Calcagni stands tall for the Red Foxes

12 Days until Training Camp

40 Days until the Season Opener

Time for a few updates on our week one opponent, Marist.

The Red Foxes were picked to come in sixth out of the 10 teams in the Pioneer League in the preseason poll  released last week. San Diego was picked to come in first.

The Pioneer League is made up of teams from all over the country, making travel a real challenge and a big expense. San Diego will be a home game for Marist, but the Red Foxes have to make long road trips to Jacksonville, Drake, (Des Moines, Iowa), Valparaiso, (Indiana), and Campbell, (Blue Creek, North Carolina). With all that traveling, you can see why Marist is probably more than happy to make the short trip to Wien Stadium.

Four Red Foxes were named to the preseason All-PFL team. All four are from the NYC area. Marst's best player is undeniably tight end Anthony Calcagni, who was a 1st Team All Pioneer League player last season.

Senior Red Fox kicker Jason Myers has been named to the Freddy Mitchell watch list. The Mitchell Award goes to the top non-FBS kicker every year.

Since Marist's season opens on September 1st at Bryant,  the Red Foxes start their training camp this Wednesday.
