Alan Watson breaks away
The long
hoped-for running back for this 2013 recruiting class is here!
5-9 170 lbs. RB Alan Watson has committed to Columbia.
Watson comes to us from Columbus,
Ohio's New Albany HS, where last season he scored 26 TDs, had 1,388 yards rushing, finished Honorable Mention All-State, 1st
Team All-District, 1st Team All-Conference, and was a two-time Player of the
Week.
Watson would be the second documented New Albany grad to come to Columbia football, the first being Thomas Weldon '08.
You can see Watson's eye-popping highlight reel by clicking here.
And you can see Watson signing his ersatz letter of intent about 22:51 into this video from the Columbus local news. Why was his signing on the local news? Because his teammate who signed with Ohio State happens to be the son of that station's weekend anchorwoman!
Well, there's something to be said for being in the right place at the right time.
Let's hope that right place is the end zone for Watson in a CU uniform.

A nice class all in all. Particular strength at QB and WR. Wish we had a few more big guys on the DL. Also, it seems odd that we're recruiting 6'3"+ receivers but 6'1" DBs.
Now, if only Coach M. can find a quality DC who will stick around a while. It would be a shame to get the offense in gear but slip back on defense.
I'm pretty sure there are as many as five more players in the class that I just haven't been able to find yet.
We'll have a number of senior kickers on the roster next year and only one underclassman. I wager we'll see some commits here...or we'll be raiding the soccer team.
It's a lot easier to run forward at 6' 3" than back up.
I don't think there are many DBs in the NFL who are much over 6 feet. A six foot corner is regarded as a big corner.
how do you upload signing day pics to this forum?
Blog and learn. Thanks all for explaining optimal DB height.
Tremendous 76-63 win over Harvard in Men's Basketball this afternoon at Levien. Congratulations to Columbia Men's Basketball!
