Back and Forth

Not so fast, my friend!

Head Coach Pete Mangurian tells the Columbia Spectator that Trevor McDonagh will be the QB for the Lions in the first few offensive series despite the fact that freshman Kelly Hilinski was listed first on the two deep.

As Joe Benigno would say: "they doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence, bro."

Mangurian says the two QB's performed well in practice, but it feels like there's just a major cloud of uncertainty that just won't stop hovering over this team.

In other news, senior DL Wells Childress is out for the year with a foot injury. That could open the door for some playing time for big freshman William Carson, who looks like one of the big potential stars in this freshman class.

If anyone is wondering why Jake isn't posting the clip of the players and cheerleaders on the Today Show this morning, I think I know why: it was EMBARRASSING!

If you listen closely, you can hear Hamilton Garner say, "he really f--ked that up" off camera.

But here's the clip for those of you with the stomach to take it: http://www.today.com/id/49063771/#53253910

Wonderful now Childress is out for the season, how much worse is this going to get?

oy vey!

It all starts with the offensive line, and that's where M should have started many months ago, instead of his Weight Watchers strategy.

At what point will the AD and Alumni say we need to revisit our football program?? What about the investments that's been made, over the past several years on the football and athletic program, including the new facilities. The reputation of Coach M and his attitude and unique personality to those around the football program and media are unacceptable and would not be tolerated by most universities and colleges. Can Columbia continue to shy away from all this?

What? Can the AD when she does GREAT things like get our players on the Today Show? Man, those other 7 Ivy AD's are a bunch of suckers for doing things like winning championships. WE have OUR players getting mis-introduced by Al Roker!

Maybe McDonagh was injured after being pancaked by a 300lb Princeton DT and he is now recovered. Or, it could be Pete is having misgivings throwing Kelly Hilinski to the wolves. Hilinski is a gem of a QB and belongs in DI. He gets injured at this early stage and it is a catastrophe.

Final Lehigh 56 Columbia 12. I do feel very bad for those boys playing for M. They deserve to be coached by a true leader.
