What timing. During my holiday down time, I researched the last recruiting class to see if PM was as bad a recruiter as many have claimed on this blog. Out of almost 30 recruits, only a handful had any Div 1 offers. Pace the olineman had 8 D1 offers and 1 D2 offer. Bonadies the olineman had 1 D1 offer. Dunn had 2 D1 offers and Hill and Douglas both had 1 D1 scholarship offer. Surprisingly, Hill's offer was to Fordham. Wonder if he regrets his decision in hindsight? Is this a comparable ratio to the other Ivies?
I left out two other student athletes. Aimonetti, olineman had 3 D1 offers and of course our QB Hillinsky had 4 D1 offers. These are all excluding their offer from Columbia.
We need one of you to run an insurgent campaign to get elected as an alumni trustee. There is a process by which a certain number of seats on the board must be filled by alumni. I haven't studied the process, but it is possible that a insurgent can get elected to the board. I really think what we need is another footballer on the board, whether he is a former player or not. My guess is that a nomination can be secured through means set forth in the charter. What we need is somebody who is not just another WallStreet type but a maverick who can really press for athletic excellence.
Who is committed if any? D is pretty well set. Starters are already on team. No need for a lot of new faces. 1 or 2 new QBs needed especially if Nottingham is not 100%. KH may be gone. WRs are there if right ones are used. O line needs beefing up. 4 wins in 14 not out of the question. Jake, keep this. Will be true no matter who the coaches are.
Like to see him to come in at 230. Also like to see a 6'4" 230 running back/blocker. Doesn't have to be fast. Use only inside 20 and short yardage situations.
Where did Pace have offers from? where did they all have offers from? I would love to know what D1 school's offered scholarships so as to not give the impression that every kid was offered a D1 scholarship from the likes of Oklahoma, etc. For example Pace had offers from Mercer, Citadel, Howard and Virginia State according to the Lions web page. Not exactly awe inspiring. It also mentioned he only gave up 3 sacks his whole high school career. Well, he gave that up in one game at the college level. I am not trying to be mean, but apples to apples. Whereas Hilinski turned down scholarships to Arkansas, Colorado, UNLV and Wyoming which are legitimate D 1 schools.
I checked out the composition of the current board. Campbell is the only former footballer. We are top heavy with Wall Street types and at least two other former College athletes. But we need a firebrand like Jake, Roger or Rich to study the charter and start an insurgency campaign an an alumni trustee. This is not unlike what activist investors do, they work on getting a board seat. Then you have a seat at the table and it is much harder to be ignored.
Great article in the sports section of today's Times about how Duke went from a football laughingstock to one of the top teams in the ACC. It can be done if the AD and the administration has the will.
Tyler kid could end up at 6' 6". He is still a baby. Hope he has some quickness. All recruites and present players should be tested in 20 yd. shuttle. Quickness wins games. All positions gain with quickness.
If we get any more Pace caliber offensive linemen, please have an ambulance on the field at all times and stock in whatever blood type Nottingham and Hilinski are!
It's no offense to Pace! He was too young, weak and never learned how to block. Apparently they never practiced against a "bull rush" or taught him who's to counter the "swim technique".
Well considering Pace went up against the other teams best DE and OLB every week as a LT says nothing but good things about him. Every week he was battling someone 4-5 years older than him I would imagine and many were probably all-conference and maybe all-American like the kid Zach Hodges from Harvard. Bodes well for the future.
Pace got the start in game 2 so he was not responsible for Nottingham's injury in game 1. Pace didn't play at all in game 1 but obviously did well enough in practice to "take" a job. PM said in the Spec that he's a fighter and heaven knows we need more of those!
I love that kid Pace. Can't imagine what was going thru his mind at barely 17 blocking against grown men and holding his own. That tough as nails mentally and physically.
Today's NY Post has a good article about the major turnaround in Fordham football. A major change in direction has required a new head coach and new thinking. Even with some different circumstances, Fordham should be a good model.
PM has failed. There is no justification to subject the players, fans and university to another year of pain, frustration and embarassing defeats.
A blue ribbon committee, an evaluation by an independent sports consulting company and major changes are needed NOW. The current program and leaders are untenable and indefensible.
Enough on Pace's age already! When will that get old (No pun. Intended)! He shouldn't have been out there at all. He should be playing JV somewhere. He was manhandled this year. The Dartmouth defense used him like a rag doll! Come on, call it like it was for goodness sakes! Maybe he'll be a player in 2 years, but for now, the QBs need to roll out to the right! AGAIN, it's not his fault. PM had no right playing this kid; especially when he was not prepared.
Some of you guys seem to think that we would be 10 and 0 if Pace didn't play. Only a few freshmen made any significant contributions this year. Next year there may be no freshmen starting. You guys will have to find another defenseless kid to hammer.
Says you? Who are you? I think you wish you were half as good as this kid at his age. Get used to it and repeat after me...four year starter. The best played. The best will continue to play. Get used to it!
With the right coaching and preparation freshmen can and should play. The CU coaching staff and overall preparation strategy isn't qualified to take on that challenge. Though they try, not in an effort to field the best players but to carry out Pete's personal agenda. That is what bad head coaches do is put their own needs at the forefront and hire underlings to do their bidding. So instead of being CU football, the program becomes about the head coach (and this blog contributes to that reality unfortunately) and the "team" aspect becomes less about the players. Look at ANY transcript or video of the press conferences after any game and it is all about Pete, not about getting ready for the next opponent or talking about how they will get better. It's all about Pete deflecting blame away from himself onto the players. That is 100% of what he brings. He's got nothing else to show for his efforts. So it doesn't matter what fresh faced kid he puts in there with the best of expectations, he will suffer the machinations of a bad head coach one way or the other.
I beg to differ that the best played. Many of us here would say that the best did not play. Pete played young to give himself the development of the younger players at the expense of a few qb's, etc.
Most big time programs have criminals on the football team. CU is lucky to not have that problem. Some of the benching has had to do with the me attitude and not the team attitude. Not all and do not know names, so don't ask.

He looks too smart to want to play for Pete.

Great news if true. Let's hope we can provide him an opportunity to thrive.
Buyer beware!

God, Anon, 4 W's in '14?
I truly hope so.

I would not be surprised to see some underclassmen transfer.

Google Pace. He had offers from those schools you mentioned as well as Towson, Georgetown, Old Dominion, UMass and Cornell.
To the poster two above....one thing Pace's offers had in common that made them "awe inspiring" is that they would ALL beat the crap out of us!
Thank you, oldlion, but i'm too much a maverick to be on that board. How about Jake, Rich, or Des?
What is awe inspiring is that we got Pace given all those offers.
100s of kids out there with his potential. Just need to be spotted by someone like us.

6-4 205. Hmmm, Pete probably projects him as a OL next year, provided he doesn't gain any additional weight.

How many wins would we have had if Pace were on the bench?
If Pace starts again, just have Nottingham's blood type ready to go... Do us all a favor and red shirt.
Same amount of wins next year as well I'm afraid with PM at the helm. Looks like 0-10 and a contract extension.
Was that an answer?
Need help? 0 is the answer. Not Pace's fault. Won't be his fault if 0 wins next year,

Stop commenting on this kid Pace. None of you know anything about offensive line play. No clue. The issue is PM. He suks and should be fired today.
Ummm, that's what we're saying. The kid was unprepared to be out there BECAUSE of Pete.
I beg to differ that the best played. Many of us here would say that the best did not play. Pete played young to give himself the development of the younger players at the expense of a few qb's, etc.
Why is KH not likely to return? with a line he is out guy next year or the next 3 if BN doesn't come back for a final season

Maybe you and I can have a little conversation?
