Where are They Now? UPDATED
Kelly Hilinski today
1) Seyi Adebayo '14 had two tackles for Boston College in the Eagles' 30-20 loss to Pitt Friday night.
2) Mike Zunica, who came to the Lions as an RB from St. Rita's in Chicago, is now a full scholarship member of the Kansas University Jayhawks as a linebacker. Mike did not get into the KU win over Southeast Missouri Saturday.
3) Connor Spears did not get into USC's big win over Stanford Saturday afternoon. UPDATE!! Spears, of course, is NOT eligible to play this year because he transferred UP to FBS from FCS. He is still working out with the team.
That's a bummer, because he will not be traveling with the team to BC this weekend where he could have taken a great picture with Adebayo with the caption: "Thanks, Pete!"
4) But the biggest ex-Lion winner was Kelly Hilinski, who passed for 326 yards and two TD's in Riverside's 51-3 rout of Bakersfield College,
Yes, Hilinski is now in junior college after leaving Columbia in the spring.
Question: if he comes back to CU does he have to sit out a year since he originally enrolled at Columbia to begin with?
Oh, and speaking of "Where are They?", we're now 11 days from the start of the season and we STILL have no announcement on the television deal and schedule we've been promised for weeks.
Nothing like rushing the news out to the fan base!

My guess with Kelly Hilinski is he would not come back to CU. (Guess) he is living closer to home out of choice, playing at a #3 ranked JC program and getting his numbers up to show recruiters he really is the big time recruit he was recognized as 2 years ago. The kid had interest across the board at Division I so after a debacle he is now showing he is a talent.
I don't remember Zunica. How can it be that he never saw the field for us and now has a scholarship at a major football school? Was he injured as a freshman?
Hilinski would be classified as a 4-2-4 transfer. Requiring him to complete X amount of credits and show progress towards a degree.
Anybody know how Pugliese is doing?
I imagine that Hilinski figured out that with Nottingham playing another two years he was going to be relegated to the bench until he was a senior, in which event he may well have found himself backing up Anders Hill. So unless he wanted to switch positions to TE, he was probably making a football decision. Seems to me a bonehead move to give up an Ivy education to play for some jerk water JUCO.
Unless he finishes his stint @ the JUCO and uses the stats to leapfrog to a major program for the last 2 years.
Flash! Murphy stepping down at the end of the year,
I didn't get the impression Hilinski fit well with Coach Pete and the team aptitude in general. He needs better players around him and as a player himself he needs to develop and mature. Right school, wrong football program. Hopefully, he'll find a DI program that plugs him in. He's a 3000 yard QB in the right system.
Hilinski had two major problems at CU that were not football related.
Maybe a major program may be able to overlook those if he lives up to his potential on the field.
Pat
All is forgiven when you help a team win.
