The
Columbia Spectator has published my
column with three pieces of advice for our new Athletic Director
Peter Pilling.
We all want him to succeed, but wanting it isn't enough.
We must show him support and let him know the things he may not hear from the usual suspects.

Well done. Enjoyed reading it and I agree with your message. I truly hope Columbia is willing to at least look outside the box when searching for a head coach - because Columbia is outside the box.
How about a lowdown on Lucas Faria? Huge junior year, good senior year.
Yes, I Tweeted about his commitment this morning. Stand by.
So now that this fellow is hired does that mean Murphy was prodded to vacate her office prior to her self imposed June departure? She can't possibly linger on the payroll until then and the new guy won't need that many months of handoff time.
I'll lay odds there is no change with the football staff this season. He will settle in and evaluate. It is imprudent to make a coaching swap at this juncture due to the relationship the current staff has with the players.
Totally unfair to the players to keep a lame duck staff- Coaches will never recruit knowing it is their last season. If he wants to keep Rippon, who is an excellent coach, then give Chris a multi-year contract.
I believe the next HC is in the wings, waiting for the new AD to officially introduce him. If not, we are in trouble again.
I also agree with Al that no wholesale staff cuts will happen, especially if there is a delay in the announcing of the new HC.
Pilling has already stated that he is looking for a coach that has built a successful program. That rules out any assistant coach.
Jake, your closing sentence would read better as: "You will be that person if you break new ground." More positive, less threatening.
Keep the staff? This team has not won a game in 2 years.
Where is the Taylor report?
if the coach is waiting in the wings then they have not interviewed anybody as there are a number of coaches I know that want the job, but have not spoken to anybody.
Good candidates, Seeunt?
