Waiting on an Official List




On Friday, the official Columbia Football Twitter feed helped 33 of the incoming football freshmen officially announce they were "joining the pride." Each of the players Tweeting had their images put on a virtual "baseball card" that looked pretty cool.

But that leaves seven players reportedly coming to Columbia who for some reason did not join the Friday Twitter party. And that's why I'm waiting on an official release from the athletics website to assess our actual incoming haul.

    Jake, I counted 36 Twitter announcements (retweeted by Coaches Poppe and Mclaughlin). Of concern is the fact that two of the five "missing" commits were three-star rated guys: RB Lynnard Rose and DL Michael Geraghty. Rose never really decorated his Twitter feed with the #ThePride16 graphics most other commits used--maybe he's still looking to be picked up by another D1 school. Geraghty's feed IS decorated and he announces that he's Columbia Class of 2020. Not sure what's up there. Test scores? Heck, I'll forward the deposit if that's an issue.

    In any case, still a great class. Love to see these other guys aboard, though.

    I wouldn't put too much stock in the number of Twitter announcements. I'm sure the coaches aren't demanding each player posts his "card". Amazing that 37/41 even did though. That being said glad to see our highest recruit (Rose) is added to the list of players we can confirm.
