Justin Stovall, who has done a stellar job at the Lions linebackers and special teams coach for several years, has taken the defensive coordinator position just vacated by Paul Ferraro.
This is a great opportunity for a still young coach to make a bigger mark on this program.

No argument with Stovall ! Our Linebacker play has clearly been the best defensive strength of this team over the past several years and the special teams have been indeed "special" - winning several close games by being the critical difference: see e.g. Roussos kickoff return vs Cornell (aka the Miracle on 218th Street). Like the choice of someone who has developed his skills within Coach B's system. Ferraro will be missed for sure. His ability to adjust to the opponents strategy on the fly and halftime was superb- hopefully Stovall can replicate this trait.
Has done a stellar job! Uses a DB as a linebacker on the outside... Stops the outside runs AND drops into coverage... How about those blitzes!
Nice to see internal promotion. Not sure where the Jon Poppe rumors got started, but I had thought that he had burned his bridges at Columbia when he left and was not well liked by his players when he was here.
