I'm not sure if I missed this name yesterday of if this is a name they just added to the roster today, but another new freshman we did not note as a commit before is 6-4 275 pound OL Ryan Carr from LaSalle College HS just north of Philadelphia.
Carr also looks like he could be a very high-quality addition as it appears he was heavily recruited by some bigger programs. But as it is with all the bios and references to "offers," it's often hard to tell what is a formal offer, etc.
I will now update my epic LionFeeders database, which lists the names of all the documented Columbia Football recruits and their high schools going back several decades.

Jake, thanks for posting these late, recruiting surprises. Also, even though we had to wait quite some time, it was both informative and fun finally to read about members of the incoming freshman class--a sterling group.
Now, the not-so-good news: By now, most of you, I'm sure, have heard Provost Boyce will not be submitting data to U.S News for its annual ranking of U.S. universities for 2023, which means, of course, Columbia will not appear in the forthcoming rankings in September upcoming.
I know this is a football blog, but Spectator, for example, will be buried, I'm sure, with letters-to-the editor. Furthermore, the fall-out from Boyce's decision will have, I believe, deleterious effects on virtually all facets of Columbia's future, quite possibly even on football recruiting.
Personally, I can't believe Columbia would cheat (to do so would be morally wrong and just flat-out stupid) to increase her standing in this "gold-standard" annual list of the best universities in the nation (Columbia tied Harvard and MIT for #2 for 2022); nevertheless, the article written by a Columbia math professor (a Harvard grad and Rhodes Scholar) accused our University of a number of errors in submitting data to U.S. News, a devastating report that has held traction for a number of months now--not a positive sign. All this brings back for me the nightmares of what happened to Columbia after 1968....
My only advice to Provost Boyce is DO THE RIGHT THING!

I agree with Tod's comments and concerns. It seems as if the Columbia Administration made a very serious mistake in not immediately addressing the accusations of the faculty member sooner. This is a biged public relations screw up that President Bollinger needs to have clear up immediately. Refusing to provide the information on a timely basis cannot be an option.
This is NOT a big deal. First off, there are MANY other respected rankings publications now and the U.S. News ranking is not what it once was. Second, these rankings, and the work done by the schools for years to move up the list have been very detrimental to the entire intellectual enterprise in academic America. I hate them and enough is enough.
FWIW, I am with Jake on this. These rankings are toxic. Schools encourage unqualified kids to apply so they can be rejected and produce lower acceptance rates, which US News rewards. Is Columbia the second best school in America or the fourth best school? Who cares?
Back to football: also agree with Jake this is the best returning talent we've had in my five decades of following Lions football. We should all be thrilled with the program.

I think the issue here has to do with the growth of GS. GS has a 47% acceptance rate and basically accepts any warm body. Originally it was supposed to be a GI bill type place for vets. Then under Peter Awn it grew and grew and grew. Originally it was supposed to be a money maker. Now it demands the same degree as the College, takes many of the same courses, and cannot be halted in its inexorable March toward heaven knows what. But include GS in the data and the rankings take a huge hit. So either be forthright about GS or decline to provide data. If it were up to me I would phase out GS over the next few years since it has a mission which is inconsistent with excellence.
