6-1, 180 pound DB Caleb Solomon from Florida's Miramar HS has committed to Columbia.
Solomon had offers from FBS schools Ohio U., Western Kentucky, UT Chattanooga, and Kent State he also had offers from Yale, Fordham, Lehigh, Georgetown, Akron, Howard, Bethune Cookman, and others.
Solomon will be the first Miramar grad to come to Columbia Football.
So the list of known commits grows to five:

2) Liam Donagher DB 6"2 200 lbs. Grafton Memorial HS/Choate (PG Year) Grafton, MA

4) Casey O'Sullivan TE/DE 6"3 245 lbs. Seton Hall Prep West Orange, NJ

Excuse me to going off topic for a moment to congratulate the Columbia Women's Soccer Team for their 3-0 victory over a very good Hofstra team at Baker Field this afternoon. Columbia dominated a good Hofstra Team in every aspect of the game. And, I am back on topic to note that our wide receiver corps looks really good. Bryson Canty is, of course, outstanding, but Libman, Jenkins, Meyer and others are also very talented.

Why are we scrimmaging Montclair as a DIII school?
because most schools have started their game schedule already or will be shortly and are thus in game prep mode. Not many options available to scrimmage against.
Scrimmage opponent doesn't really matter. It's about getting reps, technique, and timing against someone other than your own team.
IN THE PAST WE USED TO SCRIMMAGE OTHER IVY TEAMS WITH WHOM WE WOULD NOT MEET UNTILLATER IN THE SEASON, SUCH AS BROWN. I WONDER WHY THAT ISN’T A BETTER WAY TO GO.
In the past, Columbia didn't/couldn't compete for a league title. Now they are a better squad and at least have a shot to win the ivy. Why show your cards to another team that you're competing against for a title?

What cards are there to show? Teams generally don't show much in scrimmages anyway--in no small part because they've only been practicing for two weeks. There will be plenty of time to add to the playbook by the time you play your scrimmage opponent in the regular season. And I'm sure the opponents would be more interested in game film than they are in scrimmage film--assuming the latter is even available.
I remember when the Frosh actually played Montclair State. Unfortunately, the Frosh did not get the best of it.
The discontinuation of the Ivy scrimmages had a lot to do with NYC transportation nightmares, especially for trips to and from Harvard & Brown.
