  3. Big day for Mark Fabish yesterday. His Peddie Prep team beat St. Luke’s of New Canaan, Connecticut 39-10.

  4. Hello. Did anyone attend the Saturday inter-squad scrimmage? If so, anything to report? The first game is in twelve days and there is more information available about secret CIA operations than about our football team. Do we have a quarterback? Do we have a team? Feeling very frustrated!!!

  5. The Texas Soph QB and the Junior transfer from Northwestern were nos. 1and 2 on the depth chart, respectively, and both looked good in the scrimmage.

  7. The first game is in ten tens and nobody knows what is going on.

The Athletic Department remains in stealth mode.

We have an extraordinary women's basketball team but their 2024-2025 schedule is not yet posted. Dartmouth is the only other Ivy that has not posted its schedule.

For those followers of a great program and amazing coach here is most of the schedule:

    11/04 - Stony Brook
    11/08 - Providence
    11/16 - Villanova
    11/20 - Pacific
    11/23 - 11/25 - Bahamas Tournament
    12/01 - Duke
    12/21 - Wagner
    12/29 - Towson
    01/04 - Penn
    01/11 - Cornell
    01/18 - Yale
    01/20- Princeton
    01/25 - Penn
    01/31 - Harvard
    02/08 - Brown
    02/15 - Harvard
    02/22 - Princeton
    02/25 - Brown
    03/01 - Yale
    03/08 - Cornell

Columbia needs a new PR person.

  8. How about just a PR person who actually does something? There has not been any meaningful information about the football team other that a couple of perfunctory posts by the Athletic Department. I wouldn't want to burden or distract Coach Poppe, who has plenty on his plate, but this is ridiculous. Is our AD even awake to this situation?

    1. What exactly do you expect? There's no meaningful info to report at this time. They're practicing. You're not getting a press release about anything at this point.

    2. It is not his first HC job. He was a HC last season.

  9. Our AD hired a tail end of his career football coach who brought respectability back.(Big deal) AD did nothing about men's hoops and the Continuous Train wreck. AND now you want football news? Why should he get off his duff when he has done nothing significant and start earning his keep? Keep mediocrity at bay?

    2. The most amazing part is that Poppe will be a winner at Columbia IN SPITE OF all the AD bs.

    3. He hired Poppe

    4. Sincere question: what specifcally is it about Poppe that has so many convince, “He’s a winner?”

I am not taking at shot by any means, I just cant figure out what he has done that stands out from any other coach starting their first HC gig

    5. But he hasn’t fired Engles.

  10. Follow Poppe, the coaches and the team on social media; reach out to Emily Maury and get on the email list; give some $ while you are at it. And stop complaining about lack of communication. show up at games and talk up our AD in the upper parking lot -he is very approachable.

    1. Yes, any and all constructive criticism must be eradicated. You can say anything, as long as it’s positive.

    2. This comment: "Follow Poppe...give some $...show up" the most astute and relevant comment. Thank you for it.

  11. The fans will turn on Poppe soon. Give it a few weeks and the honeymoon will wear off. He'll be run out of town like the others.

    1. As much as you’d like Poppe to fail, he won’t. Mark my words. And I, for one, won’t be turning on him. Especially when he does miles better than Fabish right off the bat. Watch and learn, buddy.

    2. Watch and learn!

  12. What has Poppe done? Abandoned the Bagnoli offense, abandoned the Fabbish defense! Already two ++ in my book! Bet he goes better than 20 and 28 Ivy wise in his career. As for the AD? Jim Engles just plain rots as a coach

    1. Amen! And let’s not forget what he did at Union. Or at Harvard, or at CU during that 8-2 campaign. Shall I keep going? The guy’s a winner, plain and simple.

  13. Hate to say it but Columbia has some of the dumbest “supporters” in the country

    ReplyDelete

    1. That’s right. Completely the fault of the supporters that Engles sucks and Fabish biffed it. Whatever you need to keep telling yourself. Poppe’s gonna be awesome. Will you still criticize the fans when he wins?
