2025 Ivy League Bottom-Up Predictions: Tiger Tribulations
Blaine Hippa
Time now for my pick for 6th in the Ivies this year, and I must say that it’s not easy to pick a program like Princeton to repeat as a 6th place tem after finishing in that slot last year.
I wonder if some of the seeming football malaise at Princeton is a by-product of the snide remark Michelle Obama made in her autobiography about why she didn't feel she fit in at Princeton, to wit because the only sports students at Princeton care about are lacrosse and crew, unknown to her before she arrived at school. They certainly don't come to football games in numbers or stay for the game if they make a cameo. This despite a gorgeous new stadium, its easy walking distance from anywhere on campus (unlike several other Ivy League schools), and the utter lack of anything to do in central Jersey on a fall afternoon for entertainment, other than getting on the Dinky and going to NYC. The problem is exacerbated because the university, like the rest of the Ivy League, does precious little to advertise the games or the program, and the fact that you can't buy a beer and watch football (unlike at Brown or Penn) is just plain silly.
