Two quick pieces of breaking news:
1) UConn QB Michael Nebrich has transferred to QB-poor and week two opponent Fordham. He can play for the Rams right away. Will he get the starting job in time for the game at Wien Stadium on Sept. 22nd?
2) Columbia has already "signed up" it's first new recruit for the freshman class of 2013. He is Kendall Pace, a 6-5 265-pound OL from Bishop McNamara HS in Maryland.

The two returning Fordham quarterbacks, Ryan Higgins and Peter Maetzold, must be thrilled by the news of Nebrich's transferring into Fordham at this late date.
Off topic but interesting:
On Sept 25, 2010, the Lions beat the Towson Tigers 24-10. On Sept. 29, 2012, Towson plays preseason No. 1 (2 in some polls) LSU in Baton Rouge. Am I the only one who finds this shocking?
Rob Ambrose, Towson's coach, took over in 2010, turned them into Colonial champs the very next year and is going to Baton Rouge this year.
With Columbia involved, there has to be some sort of cruel irony : Guess who was Wilson's colleague on the UConn coaching staff when Columbia went shopping for a new coach in 2006? None other than miracle worker, Rob Ambrose. Right store, wrong aisle.
Could it have been us in Baton Rouge instead of Towson?

Fabulous blog by Coach M.
Agree on Coach M's blog. He is one very smart, perceptive guy. Great to hear about how there is a lot of campus and faculty support for what he is trying to do. I was confused about his reference to players who will not report until September 1st, and his related reference to players who had been injured. Are they one and the same, and are they the players who he said have to prove they belong on the team?
If an upperclassman was injured in the spring and did not participate, they are reporting Saturday to "show what they can do." Those upperclassman that did not prove to Coach M that they will be playing much this fall report Sept 1. This keeps the number of players in camp at a more manageable level. I beleive Jake previously wrote that while at Cornell the number of players was below what other teams had. I think Coach M is comfortable with 75-80 players and this year's recruiting class was largeer than normal. Time will tell. Go Lions!
Interesting. If somebody didn't impress in the Spring, he is not being cut but will not be invited to camp until 9/1, thus guaranteeing that he has no shot at any playing time. And if a player was injured and could not participate in the Spring, he has 10 days to show if he can contribute. Tough, but fair. Good preparation for life.
