Tyler Varga
Columbia must have been worried when it saw that Yale had
defeated mighty Penn the Saturday before the Lions were set to meet the Elis at
Wien Stadium.
But it turned out that Yale’s entire QB corps suffered
injuries in the game against the Quakers.
Head Coach Tony Reno had a decision to make.
And shortly before game time, the Lions learned that Reno
was actually going to start RB Tyler Varga in the wildcat formation for the
entire game.
It was a bold but generally logical move considering the
fact that with or without a healthy QB, Varga was really the entire Yale
offense anyway.

Jake,
My recolection of that day was that we did not employ a defense geared to meet the threat of this great runner who could not pass a stop sign!
I await your report of the game; which if I recall , we won because Waller make a great play striping Varga of the ball late in the game. Am I right?
Ford@Temple scheduled on ESPN3, 9/14
(sorry if this is old, wrong place)
Correct.
I think this line summarized the Yale Game best (from Gocolumbialions.com):
Columbia finished with 369 yards passing to Yale's 52, while Yale had 262 yards rushing to Columbia's 60.
