Moment #45: Ragone to Marsh... Again
After the Lions had to punt the ball back to the Quakers, Columbia still held a 20-17 lead with 2:26 left to go and Penn starting out at their 38 with just one timeout left.
In other words, the Lion defense had to make one more stand.
Things didn't start well when on 1st down, QB Billy Ragone found WR Connor Scott for 20 yards to the Columbia 42.
But then the Lion defense woke up.
On 1st down, Ragone was forced to misfire on a pass to Ryan Mitchell and it fell incomplete.
On 2nd down, LB Brian East made another great play by stuffing RB Lyle Marsh for just a one yard gain on a little pass from Ragone.
That set up a crucial 3rd and nine... and Ragone and Marsh, just as they did on the previous drive, delivered.
Ragone found a wide open Marsh for a 23 yard gain to the 18.
He would find Marsh two more times in the possession, including the six yard TD that gave the Quakers a 24-20 lead.

Jake,
You pegged it. He found a "wide open" receiver. We had quite a lot of that all season long. I don't know why. Can anyone help me?
The secondary was spotty last year, but I didn't think it was a massive weakness on the team. Marsh was open, because as a RB, he was able to take advantage of the coverage he was getting from a LB.
My problem with the pass defense last year was adjustment. Guys seemed to burn us with similar plays over and over in some crucial games.
That's what I said: "wide open"!!
