The Millstone
Homecoming 2017
Pennsylvania Quakers (2-2) vs. Columbia Lions (4-0)
October 14, 2017
Kickoff Time: 1:30
Robert K. Kraft Field at Wien Stadium, Baker Athletics Complex
Game Time Weather Forecast: 69 degrees, 35% chance of rain
The Line: Penn is favored by 2 points
TV/Radio: The game will be televised nationally on the Eleven Sports Network, online on the Ivy League Digital network, and free audio is available on the Columbia website and on WKCR FM, (probably WKCR's online stream channel only).
Leading Storylines
1) The tables have turned as it is now Columbia that is riding high with an undefeated record and Penn that is struggling to get its season on track. This game will be a key test for both teams to prove or disprove they belong right where they are in the standings.
2) Getting to the X's and O's, Penn comes in with one of the weakest pass defenses in the Ivies and Columbia has probably the best passing offense. The Quakers will have to make some big changes to address this game.
3) Penn has defeated Columbia 20 straight times, mostly by more than two scores. It's the longest current Ivy vs. Ivy streak and a singular millstone for the Lion program. The fact that the man who coached the Quakers to 18 of those 20 straight wins, Al Bagnoli, now paces the Columbia sidelines makes this game even more potentially meaningful.

My guess on the Penn game plan: they will be dialing up blitzes and try to make Hill uncomfortable. On offense, they will be relying heavily on the inside run game but try to spring Watson long either to test Roane early after he tweaked his ankle last week, or to try to beat either Hill or McKeighan long.
While I don't agree that we are 2 point dogs, I do feel that we don't walk into this with any sense of expectation for a win.
By that, I simply mean that this will be a test of the old Columbia vs. the new. Can we rise to the occasion, win a game that we should win, or will we crumble and give the damn thing away like so often before.
If we do the job I believe we will do, we can banish the "old Columbia" bogeyman, at least for a time. Penn is due for an ass kicking from us, and tomorrow is the perfect time.
Agree we are capable of a win but it's going to take 60 minutes of mistake-free football. Last 2 years Penn has not only won but rubbed our noses in it . Revenge would be more than sweet
It would erase another evil edict.
By the skin of our teeth, but I'll take it.
It was "Old Columbia" in H1, but "New Columbia" in Q4.
We were lucky, but we earned our luck.
I'll take it, too. I almost gave up in the first half--but I'm one of the long suffering old fans who have seen, and expect, the worst. But these guys hang in, and are tough. They are making plays when they need to. Some of the defensive stops have been terrific. And, as I've said before, I'm even happier when I see the number of freshmen, sophs and juniors who are making key plays.
We can leave Hill's replacement to later. A great win, sorry I wasn't there in person.
