Chuck Deprima
It's Deprima
While we await the release of the Columbia two-deep, some of the other Ivy schools have released their starting lineup info and game notes.
That includes Harvard, where the Crimson find themselves having to name a brand new starting QB this season. According to the notes, the job will go to junior Charles Deprima, who ran the ball three times last year but has yet to throw a collegiate pass. He steps into the job as Head Coach Tim Murphy looks for his first star QB in the program in almost a decade.
By the way, Deprima's younger brother Landon is also a QB/athlete at Ramapo HS in New Jersey and Columbia made him an offer for 2024, but he has committed to Harvard as well.
Another big question was who would be Harvard's top RB, and now we know the start is going to junior Shane McLaughlin who has a total of eight carries so far in his Crimson career.
The only underclassmen listed among the starters are sophomore Cooper Barkate and DB A.J. Lopez. Barkate is not a surprise starter considering his strong play last season.
Netinho Oliveiri
Penn Info
Penn's two-deeps have also been released, albeit without any great mysteries to uncover. We did find out that top returning WR Joshua Casilli will be joined in the starting lineup by sophomore WR Jared Richardson, and senior WR Malone Howley.
Some eyebrows may rise when they see the Quakers are starting a sophomore at LT in 290-pound Netinho Olivieri, (who Columbia also recruited and offered).
Pulling for Buddy
Bruce Wood's Big Green Alert Blog reports that all eight Ivy teams will honor Dartmouth Head Coach Buddy Teevens this year by wearing his "BT" initials on the back of their helmets. Teevens is still recovering from a severe bicycling accident in March.
