Two New Commitments

With the December official on-campus weekend visits underway, we're going to hear about some more commitments in the coming days.

During this past weekend's visits, we got two more names.

First came 5-11 190-pound RB Griffin Johnson from Marysville HS in Marysville, Ohio, near Columbus. He also had an offer from Lehigh.

Based on my LionFeeders database, Johnson will be just the second Marysville grad to come to Columbia Football.

Next, we have 6-0 170-pound DB Will Rubalcava from Rick Reedy HS in Frisco, Texas. He had committed to the New Hampshire, but changed that commitment to Columbia. Rubalcava also had offers from Holy Cross and Fordham.

He will be the first Reedy HS grad to come to Columbia Football.

So our unofficial commit list is up to 22 names:

1) Qwincy Amos DB 5"11 170 lbs. Warren HS San Antonio, TX

2) Terell Battle WR/DB 6"3 190 lbs. Mountain View HS, Lawrenceville, GA

Felkins to Penn State

PK Alex Felkins has announced his transfer to Penn State, in a move that could give him a chance to become a pro prospect.

By the way, I did post about Felkins' likely replacement Hugo Merry back in September, but I have neglected to put him on the commitment list in subsequent posts. Now that's fixed below.

Also by the way, about six weeks after his commitment to CU. Merry nailed a 54-yard FG in the state playoffs.

So our unofficial commit list is up to 20 names:

1) Qwincy Amos DB 5"11 170 lbs. Warren HS San Antonio, TX

2) Terell Battle WR/DB 6"3 190 lbs. Mountain View HS, Lawrenceville, GA

BREAKING: BAGNOLI TO COACH IVY ALL STARS IN TOKYO

Columbia Head Coach Al Bagnoli has been tapped to lead the Ivy League Football all stars (yet to be named) in the latest incarnation of what used to be called the "Japan Bowl," originally sponsored by Epson back in the 1980s.

According to this news release from the league, the Ivy team will consist of a 52-man roster. I'm pretty sure Bagnoli's staff will be entirely his Columbia coaching crew, but I wouldn't be surprised if an assistant or two from another Ivy school joins in.

How one can watch this game without going to Japan is still an open question, but it looks like at least a delayed broadcast will be available.

So the question now is who would you pick as your Ivy all star starters? You can use the All Ivy teams as a guide, but I'd be sure to go beyond that if you want to really put together the best team.
