In honor of the new re-packaging efforts for the great film 8: Ivy League Football & America, and of course the impending start of the season, I spoke with filmmaker Erik Greenberg Anjou about the film, and all that’s changed in the Ivies since the movie first came out in 2007.
Naturally, one of the biggest changes in the league is the ascendance of Columbia as a winning program. But our conversation talks about so much more.

That may be a gloomy outlook. but someone at the Brown Football office either has a sense of humor or is just really careless because this is the picture you see when click on new starting QB James Murphy’s roster page.
But that’s all the laughs I have to offer when I break down the challenges facing the Bears this season in this podcast.

Former Yale star DL Clay Patterson made all the wrong kind of news Saturday, in what may now be the biggest embarrassment ever for a former Ivy football player or coach… but Columbia has a strong connection to a pretty bad incident as well.
In this podcast I’ll talk about that, and a key new prediction for the Ivy season from longtime Ivy and FCS beat writer/editor Craig Haley.
The last decade of much more successful Columbia Football have added a lot of new fans to the program who are completely in the dark about what Columbia and Ivy League football used to look and feel like.
Given Columbia’s mostly very, very difficult history between 1947 and 2017, this ignorance can often be seen as merciful. But I thought it would be nice to should some of the newcomers some more unique, fun, and even beautiful glimpses of the Lions’ more distant past that I’m lucky enough to own in my collection.
