New Commit: Matt Tofano

A few readers have pointed out a new commitment to me this morning:

Early admission letters and emails went out yestrday and one went to Matt Tofano, a 6-2, 217 pound inside linebacker/fullback from Archbishop Mitty HS in San Jose.

Tofano also had an offer from Navy.

Tofano will be the second Archbishop Mitty grad to come to Columbia football, and the first since Glen Smith '75.

Jake, wondering if you'll be mentioning Kyle MaCauley from Bellarmine High. According to a listing he has an offer from us, his only one, although Yale and Harvard are interested. On his tapes he looks like the second coming of Austin Knowlin, just 5'10" but sub 4.5 40 and a terrific athlete, a star in his league. If we can get him and/or Klubnik whom you mentioned, with the three wr comittments we already have, I think we'd be in great shape at that position.

If all of these quality commits pull through we are looking at a successful run at the top Ivy teams over the next several years.

Jake, sorry to hear that about MaCauley, but if he doesn't want to play football, so be it.
