As we await the official news conference to welcome new Head Coach Jon Poppe, here are some more updates and details:
-The event will be at 1pm today in the 2nd floor lounge at the Dodge Fitness Center. For those who cannot attend, I believe it will be streamed live, but the details on where to find that stream have not been posted yet.
-You can expect most of the news conference to cover Poppe's biographical info and his coaching resume. I don't know if we'll be presented with a more clear picture of who is and isn't on his coaching staff, but we can hope.
-On that note, I can report that former Lion LB Justin Woodley '21 will be rejoining the staff as the linebackers coach.
-Sources also tell me that will coach Greg Skjold is rejoining the staff, he will not be the offensive coordinator. That's despite Skjold serving in that role under Poppe at Union this past season.
-I think I'm not alone in hoping that Al Bagnoli will be at the news conference and say a few words of welcome and encouragement for Poppe and the new staff.

Love new Coach Poppe's intensity and the commitment to excellence on and off the field. He is our best option to get Columbia to an Ivy League title. Key is surrounding himself with personnel that share his vision. I'm feeling 100% optimistic that we will make progress towards this long-awaited goal !

I thought he was fine; confirmed that Stovall and Kukesh are staying. Loved his passion. Gave kudos to Al and Murphy.
I totally agree. I also like his intensity, the unbridled energy, the enthusiasm. There should've been a few more questions. Make the most of this stage. Sure this was typical of press conferences introducing a new coach. We'll get more specifics in the weeks and months ahead, and surely some great recruits including perhaps a couple transfers. It'll be interesting to see what happens up at Cornell. I don't think they've made any decisions.

Did anybody notice if any players were in the room? There was an opportunity to ask more questions but I think the crowd seemed to want to let Jon off the hook. I would not be worried about his being at his first presser, most of us would have been a little nervous as well if we hadn’t done it before. I think he is going to be a really good hire.
Woodley will be a great hire—if he hadn’t been injured he would have been an all Ivy first teamer.
I din’t see Al there. I suppose that would be asking a bit too much of him since his preferred (I assume) successor didn’t work out.

I think he's going to be terrific. He definitely listens to and seems to empower the people around him. I like that he's open to keeping some of the existing staff on board. I also love that he's a younger fellow and hope that he sticks around to develop a legacy (if he's successful). Al Bagnoli was fantastic, but you always knew there was an end date when he'd retire.
Anxious to hear about the rest of his staff. The future is indeed bright.
He's the real deal. Kids will play hard for him and he can recruit. Wish him the best and looking forward to much success for the program.
Verdict is out for me until we see the staff he brings on for Offense. That was the pain point that needed rebuilding

Loved his intensity and fire. Talked about being a son and brother of a Columbia Lion. Being a football family he knows and appreciates the history of the program. He appears to be the right guy for the job. Can’t wait to see who he brings in as OC and happy he is keeping some of the key D coaches around and Woodley is a great hire. The future is bright!!

I think Bags was involved in this also. Poppe also coached under him here. They gave Fabish first shot because he was already on the staff and decided during the season the team needed a change. The quick turnaround with Poppe suggests this was in the works
