Absolutely Rome was not built in a day and a lot went into this championship! Brick by brick every person that contributed to this deserves recognition Poppe Fabish Bagnoli let’s all come together and celebrate this success
Coming from a Dartmouth guy (who never posts here), the Lions are WORTHY champions. Found ways to win, created fits for other teams, especially on defense. Not to get too far ahead but this league is going to be a "street fight" next season and you guys will be in the thick of it again. Congrats!!!!!

Wow. Congrats to the players, coaches and fans. Haven't been a fan as long as a lot of folks, but have been going to games for 21 seasons since moving to Inwood. Saw some good football, some inexplicable losses and then absolutely god-awful football during the Pete M years. Last decade has been fun and now this season with a new era, to end it like this....unbelievable. Was fun to be there in person on this chilly day and then get home to watch the end of the Yale game as well.
I personally think the 2017 season was a tad more exciting than this one--the Princeton and Penn wins that year were next level, and it was just three years removed from the Lions' second straight winless season.
But getting the title this year obviously puts this one even above 2017 historically and very happy for the players who were not only picked last this year, but then had to deal with losing their starting QB halfway through the year.
I now look forward to seeing Columbia battle South Dakota State in the FCS playoffs. Ah, well, maybe someday.

Absolutely! He made the call to go after Poppe and make this hire. Coach Bags stabilized the program and changed the losing culture so he deserves a lot of credit too! I am so glad to have been able to make the game today! We have a bright future. I am a very happy alum CC'94. My daughter is a Yale sophomore and I attended two games last year at Yale, the Columbia and the Harvard games. We got embarrassed and it was tough to witness but then I was rooting for Yale in last year's The Game, and it was fantastic as Yale won in the final moments to share the ivy crown with Harvard. I told my daughter how spoiled she was to experience an ivy title as a freshman! I now root for the Bulldogs except when they play the Lions so today was the perfect day for this old Lion!!! Our future looks bright! It was great to be at the stadium to savor the moment! For me, it's been 34 years!!! GO LIONS!
Seems to be a lot of debate around who really is to thank behind this Ivy League championship. Jake would love an article analyzing the contributions of Bagnoli Fabish and Poppe. Like how Fabish laid grow work and where Poppe would be without Fabish (IE the recruits he brought in and who really contributed to this title).Think it would make for an interesting read.
I saw Raleigh Erwin out on the gridiron tonight.… proud to see his impact on the game. Eerily reminiscent of his freshman year breakout (2022) against Dartmouth. Congrats young man!
Kudos to Coach Poppe, his staff, and the players. They took care of business. Dartmouth stubbed their toe last week. Harvard dodged a bullet last week, and imploded today. Steady, is what ended up bringing the reward our way. The sentimentalists can look for ways to laud Poppe’s predecessors, but he proved he is the real deal. Congratulations to the Lions!
How can you all not be happy gicen we won and for the first time in a long time, kids were smiling while playing the greatest game on the planet. In fact, this whole season the players looked to be enjoying themselves. A long road from the soon to be forgotten years.
I am all for showing grace to prior coaches, but this one oversteps. This honor belongs to Poppe alone, as he is the man in charge, calling the shots on the field every weekend and managing his staff to get the boys ready.
Roar lion Roar! I have been following cu football for 50 plus years and have never seen a championship until today! John Poppe did an outstanding job in his first year and deserves great credit for this and congrats to all the players, coaches and families! And Al Bagnoli and his staff including Fabish deserve credit for sure for laying the groundwork and improving the program. Al did wonders for the program and John Poppe took us to the next level. Huge congrats to the Ad for hiring Al and now John! Five winning in seven years after three winning seasons in the 45 years before the AD arrived!
First time I saw Columbia game, I was a HS player watching Tom Vassel an alum from that HS start at QB for the ‘61 team. Little did know that it would be 63 years before I saw another title. Congratulations to Coach Poppe, the Assistant Coaches and all the players. A great team effort overcoming injuries to many key players. Great effort all year. 🦁 🏆

100% agree. Our kids play for the love of this game and the honor of our school. True student athletes who will go on to successful careers outside of football. This is why I have been a fan since 1978, my freshman year. There is something special about Ivy League Football
Let’s focus on this team and Poppe. Otherwise, we’ll have to thank even Mangurian for his train wreck of a coaching tenure. After all, it took the darkest days of the Manchurian candidate for us to turn to Bagnoli and co.
How does it work when there is a 3 way tie for first place? Do they go by head to head to award a champion? Harvard 1st, Dartmouth 2nd, Columbia 3rd place in final standings? Please explain to a newcomer

And look at the injuries which this team had to surmount—7 starters including our QB, our all Ivy center and our all Ivy DE.

Stands as a tie; in ‘61 we beat co-champ Harvard head to head but it still shows as a tie.
