I was surprised and disappointed with the offensive line. And the fact that we tried passing from the 1 yard line seemed to me to be a vote of no confidence by the coaches. No way would Bags have done anything other than load the backfield and pound it in with a wildcat QB.

Down 3 scores at that point so it didn't matter. Game was over.

It did matter—had we scored we would have been down 10 with the entire 4th quarter; all I can say for sure, however, is that we had been badly outplayed at that point, to be sure, but 5 cracks from the 1 yard line with no points was a huge letdown.

Offense got stalled. QB couldn’t make enough plays to keep drives going.

Didn't matter. You're already all over Poppe so you can piss off. You're a lousy fan. We weren't gonna score 3 times the way we're playing.

No name calling please. This is a blog and we have the right to our own opinion. Thank you

Same. No name calling! I agree with a lot of Jakes takes but I don’t name calling or disrespect him. Respect everyone’s opinion

Coming after the players and staff is also disrespectful.

A little over confident, across the board. That led to a less than laser focus.

Let's stop talking about how good we are and get back to the underdog mentality. We seem to thrive in that mindset.

We got punched, and didn't react well at all.

We haven't arrived. There is plenty of work to be done.

I'm sure the staff will fix the issues. Let's leave that piece up to them.

Stop the name calling. Talk all you want but don’t name call.

I am the comment posting police. I hearby declare name calling to be a perfectly fine reaction to inane, trolling comments

Carry on good denizens of Jake’s chattapalooza

Since I am apparently the recipient of the “piss off” comment, I frankly do not understand why anything that I said was anything other than constructive criticism about the offensive line play and the play calling at the 1. I’ve been a longstanding diehard supporter of the program for many years and frankly think that “piss off” is bad form and unjustified. If this blog is limited to self-adulatory hosannas then it’s time for me to bow out.

MVP was Newton, who played like a man possessed, as the L announcers on ESPN acknowledged. The rest of the defense barely showed up. Sadly, this game reminded me of the horrendous letdown after the great 1996 season, when in the first game of the next year, at Harvard, we got rocked back to reality in a complete route. The difference now is we have plenty of talent to turn things around. But we must play much better to be competitive.

Yale and Dartmouth look to be the real deal after Saturday's contests. Brown's blowout of GT a shocker. Let's hope the coaches puts some more pieces of this puzzle together and the intensity ramps up.

Last year we beat Lafayette in game one and lost a winnable game at Georgetown in game two. Expect the opposite this year. Many positives in the opener, especially Newton and Walters. When will the Ivy league wake up and allow the season to start earlier? Earth to Pilling, how about making some moves, as Athletic Director, in that direction. By the way, great hire in Poppe

A good team and coaching staff learns from mistakes and gets better as a result.I believe we have both. If you're going to have a bad game, the opener OOC opponent is the least damaging, and unexpected. Especially since Lafayette had 3 games under their belt. We move on and take it out on the Hoyas next week.

Excellent commentary

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—this team has lost the fire that Mark Fabish once brought to them. I still believe he has a role with this new staff, and I’d love to see him back in Columbia blue, shaping these young men the way he used to.

Anonymous #37, 😂😂😂😂

Evidently the fire has died at Peddie after last year's 2-6. Is this a post designed to resurrect the Fabish Debacle?

Anonymous said...

Isn't Peddie off to a 0-3 start this year? Wouldn't that make Fabish 2-9 so far in his prep career?

Anonymous said...

Yep

Team is lock and load on Georgetown. We come back BIG on Saturday

Fabish was awful. Poppe went 7-3 last year, he’s a fantastic coach, and we just lost to a really good team that had already played three games and that had some major talent (including the leading rb and of course the QB). It was a good wake-up call for us; it’s a whole new season and nothing will come easy. I think we’ll be ready for the Hoyas on Saturday. The sky isn’t falling, and I think we’ll right the ship. If I had to guess, I’d put us in the 6-4 or 7-3 range this year. It’s weird to me that there are some on this site who prefer a 2-9 coach to one that went 7-3 and won a frickin’ Ivy championship last year. I won’t name names, though—just not that Peddie. ;)

I think the poster who said "over-confident" got it right, too much joyous hype before the 'inevitable' debacle. No question we underestimated the Leopards, real question is have we overestimated ourselves? Time will tell but no doubt the Lion will roar again.

Poppe won a piece of the Ivy League title in year #1.

Anonymous said...

Can we please make a pact that all Mark Fabish comments just simply be ignored? Every time somebody responds to that yokel, you are giving him exactly what he wants ... attention. Just ignore the Fabish comments and the trolling poster will eventually stop.

Anonymous said...

Good idea.

Anonymous said...

Can’t agree more.

Anonymous said...

This could be a trap game for the Lions since G-town was embarrassed on Saturday. I suspect they will be eager to get their first win against the Lions so the motivation will be pretty high.

Anonymous said...

There was NO MVP on defense this past Friday. Horrible across the board.

Anonymous said...

If we’d beaten Lafayette, we could’ve been looking at a trap game. But I’m confident we’re going to come out with something to prove—have to avenge last year’s loss and get our first win. Lions by 17.

All I got from that post was “fire” and “Mark Fabish.” I agree that firing him was the way to go.
