Ronald Smith


Based on his Twitter feed and a heads up from a local fan, it looks like DB/WR Ronald Smith from John Burroughs HS in St. Louis has committed to Columbia.

Burroughs is the schools where the Lions found one of our most versatile players ever, FB/LB Kirby Mack '00. And Mack's decision to join the CU program led to the successful recruitment of his cousin Johnathan Reese '02, perhaps the best CU running back ever. Smith will be the fourth Burroughs grad to come to Columbia football, the first since Jordan Davis '08, (the special teams player, not the RB who played much more extensively at the same period at Columbia).

More recently, Burroughs is the high school where Ohio State star Ezekiel Elliott came from.

The 6-3 190 pound Smith made the Missouri All State First Team as a DB in both his junior and senior seasons. He also had seven interceptions this past season.

Burroughs won the Missouri state championship in late November.

As a WR, he had 38 catches for 562 yards and 15 TD's.

By all accounts, this seems like a major get for the program.
