An Honest Assessment

Hero Sports has what sure looks like a fair assessment of Columbia's chances for the coming season.

Bottom line, the analysts believe it will be too hard for the Lions to repeat last year's 8-2 season with a new QB to break in.

It's certainly the clear challenge for Head Coach Al Bagnoli and his staff, but there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful.

Here is the link to the entire overview.

Too pessimistic, IMHO. We have had top 3 IL recruiting classes three years in a row. While it is true that we are breaking in a new QB, Bean has had plenty of experience under pressure and the other candidates like Dillon can also play. We get Murphy back, who would have been first team all Ivy were he not injured, one of the best WR combos in the IL, a healthy DiLorenzi, and a pass catching TE in the first year class. I expect us to contend.

Smith is missing from returnees of note.

Apparently it's all about the QB. Whats the consensus of opinion so far?
Will we be able to replace Hill? Our defense should keep us in most games
and our running game may actually improve, so maybe its not as crucial as the analysis suggests. Also, is the rest of the league THAT much better ?

I couldn't agree more with this eval.
I've been looking at a 6-4 record as my expectation for the past 6 months, meaning that anything more is a bonus and anything less a bit disappointing.

We have a solid foundation in place re talent and experience, but we over accomplished last year (thankfully) and that probably won't happen again.

Bagnoli will be the reason the team doesn't let last year go to their head. 2 winning seasons in a row?? When was the last time that happened?
