New Looks and Looking Ahead

In what's becoming a fun annual event, Columbia has unveiled new look home uniforms and helmets for this season.

The uniforms feature a different shade of blue than we've seen before and it looks like they will have a block "C" on one side of the helmet and the player's number on the other.

We don't yet know if we'll see another look for Homecoming again this year, or if there are some new looks for the road uniforms planned as well.

As usual, I have an appeal to make based on this news:

I'd love to see more of the game jerseys for sale either at the stadium shop or online. Many of us LOVED the old jerseys that went on sale online in 2019 and we'd love to have more choices. Am I silly to think that the new jerseys for the players should also mean the older ones could be put up for sale?

Georgetown Mauls Marist

The good news is that week one opponent Marist looked very weak in its 43-12 home loss to Georgetown on Saturday

The bad news is the Lions have to face those same GU Hoyas a week later in D.C.

Watching the game online, it looked like Marist simply could not control the line of scrimmage and Georgetown was able to slowly move at will. Marist also seems to be looking for answers at QB.

Marist has next week off before the CU game. Georgetown faces Lehigh at home at 5pm this coming Saturday.

*TICKET ALERT* As bad as the Red Foxes looked on the field Saturday, the school's athletic department website and ticketing situation is possibly worse!

For those of us planning to make the short trip up to Poughkeepsie in 11 days to see the Lions season opener at Marist, there is simply no way to get tickets right now. In fact the entire Marist Athletics website is having major problems. I called the ticket office this morning to ask if there was any way to get tickets now... but no dice. So, if you do go to the game, you should probably leave extra time to line up at the physical box office on game night.

Former Lion Updates

(These updates on our beloved former players will begin to disappear as the actual Columbia season begins... but here goes):

How did Columbia's transfer graduates do in their games this past weekend?

DL Paul Akere had 2 unassisted tackles for UVA in a 34-17 win over Richmond

RB Dante Miller had 2 carries for 3 yards for South Carolina in a 35-14 win over GA St.

LB Cam Dillon had 2 tackles including a TFL in Duke's 30-0 win over Temple

DB Jordan Colbert 1 tackle in URI's 35-14 win over Stony Brook

It doesn't look like WR/KR Mike Roussos got into the game or traveled with the team in Florida State's thrilling 24-23 win over LSU.
