As We Wait...

While we wait for the All Ivy announcements and the finalists for the Bushnell Cup awards, (I suspect they will come out tomorrow), I wanted to add a few points about the win over Cornell:

-If you have ESPN+ you can see the game archived here

-Columbia won the last three games to end a season for the first time since 1971.

-Alex Felkins finished the season a perfect 28-28 on PATs.

-The remarkable parity in the Columbia-Cornell series now stretches back 34 years, with 17 wins for Columbia and 17 wins for Cornell.

-The game was the second straight year the teams have have a "color rush," that is when both teams wear their home colors. This is only possible when those home uniforms contrast sharply, as they do with Columbia's blue and Cornell's deep red. Cornell also unveiled a new script "Cornell" logo on their helmets.

One petty remark from me. The Ivy League Honor Roll is out and Cornell put four players on it, including their QB, and we put three on it, not including Bell, who averaged about 15 yards per pass for the day. If you're up 35-7 in the third quarter and win by 23 points doesn't it stand to reason you had more players turn in good performances than the losing team? Harvard placed more guys than Yale, even though Yale won on the road. Kind of dumb!

Jake - thanks for all you do for Columbia football.

Great job by the Lions, and great job by the Cornell Band and fans, who actually filled the visitor stands. What an atmosphere, wish it was like that every Ivy football weekend.

Where’s that poster that gave me some slack when I told him that Grooms was a gamer and the most dynamic qb in the league? The guy just won Yale an outright title and First team all ivy. Congratulations to our guys though that made the all ivy teams. Was definitely surprised by Hughes selection because he was getting overlooked in the honor roll awards but so happy that he got selected. No brained with Valentes and Canty with the first team selection and Justin with the second team. Loved that Joey made second team as well. Felt that McCombs deserved second team. Congrats to all! Very surprised though that Penn QB didn’t make second team. At times, he played like the best passing QB in the league. Well deserved by everyone else.

Actually, looking back at it. I’m incredibly surprised they chose Trey Flowers for first team and Tre Peterson for honorable mention. They got that all wrong. IMO, Peterson with 6.5 yards per carry should have been first team. Flowers second team. Allen smith honorable mention. And that’s going off of total games stats. If we do just Ivy League stats, then Joey with his 6.2 yards per carry should be first team. Peterson second team with Smith. Flowers didn’t do well enough in league games and should be honorable mention.

I totally agree. I think they may have mixed up the two Tre(y)s

They also got coach of the year wrong, should’ve been Fabish
