BREAKING NEWS: The Battle for Hank!

Hank Trumbull

Sources tell me the new Yale coaching staff is making a concerted effort to unhook one of our committed incoming frosh, namely QB Hank Trumbull!

You'll remember Trumbull is the 6-4, 210 pounder who dazzled as an all-around athlete for the Chadwick School in Orange County.

I don't know how successful Yale's new coaches have been in getting Trumbull to reconsider, but we will be watching this story closely.

We would all hate to see this young man go to that mess in New Haven.

Not only do Harvard coaches have flexible recruiting scruples, even ex-Harvard coaches appear to have challenged recruiting scruples ....

This would be a tough loss because Trumbull can obviously play lots of positions other than QB like WR or TE.

Yale fans may say this is what Columbia did in December when we lured Mike Gerst away from Yale, BUT Mike had never really committed to the Elis. This is a big difference so late in the game.

Thins is the same school that gave us the Witt fiasco. Yale makes me sick. They can't lose enough. This is the same coaching dirtbag who told three players who went early decision that they were no longer welcome. Reno is a low life. He almost makes Bags seem like a great guy.

Dianne should call Barrett, her Yale counterpart, and put a stop to this. Once a player is committed, poaching in the Ivies just shouldn't happen. And remember that Reno also pulled three Harvard assistants with him. I can see one, maybe two, but three? Sounds like Reno is another rEric Mangini.

Tom Williams is going to have the last laugh after all. Can't wait to read about the values of Yale's new head coach in the newspapers this week.

Jake- take it for what it's worth. But the guys on the Portal 31 blog said that Yale lost Gerst because of banding, and Columbia picked him up on the rebound.

Low class to say that a player didn't make a low band cut. Those Yale people sound like they have surpassed our old friends at Penn in that sort of talk.
