Getting Closer

54 Days until training camp begins

82 Days until Season Kicks Off vs. Marist

The first two sessions of the Pete Mangurian Football Camp were held this past weekend, with two more one-day sessions this coming Saturday and Sunday. I'm hoping Mangurian gives us another blog post very soon to tell us about some of the highlights.

In an interesting twist, the first couple of days of Buddy Teevens' football camp up in Hanover also took place this past weekend. So in a way, the recruiting battles have already begun for kids as young as rising 10th graders.

These camps are generally a nice manner in which to supplement caoches salaries. I applaud that boys entering 9th-12th grade are invited to attend and are exposed to Columbia and Columbia football, but knowing whether these young men will qualify academically at this stage in education this is a guess at best. Most of the recruits that Coach Mangurian and staff are interested in are invited to other sessions, but finding the right type of person and having these young men exposed to Columbia early certainly is worth the efforts put forth.
