North Carolina Commit Revealed

Broderick Taylor

It took awhile, but about a week after Offensive Coordinator Mark Fabish tweeted about a North Carolina player committing to the Lions, we now know that he was talking about 6-0 200 pound RB Broderick Taylor . Taylor hails from Holly Springs HS in North Carolina, where he also spent some time playing QB and WR.

A few of my fellow fans had seen Taylor's highlight tape last month and privately emailed me that they believed he would probably be one of the most prized members of the incoming class if he committed to us. So this feels good.

Taylor will be the first documented Holly Springs grad to come to Columbia football.

Taylor brings our list of unofficial commits to 28:

Hoops Highlight

It's just too hard to ignore the huge win for men's basketball Saturday night over Harvard, the favorite to win the Ivy title. So let's talk about it.

The victory is certainly a great argument that the Lions do have what it takes to qualify for the upcoming first-ever Ivy League basketball tournament at the Palestra in March. I figure it will take eight or maybe seven league wins to get there and the Lions are well on their way. For this to be happening after the massive loss of talent via graduation last year is really a testament to new Head Coach Jim Engles.

I'm really impressed with Jim Engles. He has the team playing with a lot of spirit and hustle. Among the freshman and sophomores, Mike Smith has been terrific. Adlesh and Killingsworth are coming on strong and Tape is developing. There's also a 3 star, 6-10 recruit in the wings. So the next couple of years look bright. They'd be 4-0 this year, if there wasn't a lid on the basket during the Cornell game.

The basketball recruit in the wings, Jaron Faulds, has been elevated by ESPN to a four star. I was at both games this weekend. Engles has successfully replaced four starters and has done so without Kyle Castlin (broken foot)who was slated to be one of our key starters.

The videos confirm that Broderick Taylor is a superior RB. Hoping he can revitalize our running game.

He reminds me of Johnathan Reese; about the same size and similar running style.

Agree....they beat a good Harvard team....much better than version 2015/16

I think Reese was more of a straight ahead power runner, Taylor is more agile, can really find the seams, maybe a little faster, too.
