Ivy Power Rankings

1) Dartmouth

The win over Princeton was extremely convincing. This team's destiny is completely in its own hands now

2) Yale

The Elis have found an offense and Tony Reno seems to be codifying his "start a slow, finish fast" recipe for success

3) Princeton

With Yale coming to play the Tigers at home, Princeton still has a shot

4) Harvard

The Crimson may have also found a QB to finish out the season strong

5) Columbia

The Lions need to bounce back in the final two weeks. But if they do, this season will have to be considered a big step forward

6) Brown

The Bears offense makes them a contender every week

7) Cornell

A very important win for the Big Red at Franklin Field puts them out of the cellar

8) Penn

The Penn defense seems to be finding its way, but not the offense

I like to see which other universities also offered players who wound up choosing Columbia.

I don't mean to embarrass TJ MCGARRY, now a junior, but according to his bio was offered by Stanford, Harvard, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I have never seen him even listed on the depth chart.

Seems like a huge discrepancy to me. Are these bios always accurate?

He may have received offers to attend those schools academically, but did not receive football offers from any of those schools. Same thing with John Martin, who everyone raved about when recruiting lists came out. Columbia was the only football offer for each one of these players

Another conundrum.

I grew up in Kansas, so you can understand my particular interest when Columbia successfully recruits a stellar player from my home state.

Case in point: JACKSON HEATH (now a senior). 6'4", 230 lbs, twice All-State TE. Offered by Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Darthmouth--even by Oklahoma, no less--(read his bio for a complete listing of offers), yet I myself have never heard his name mentioned or seen it in print.

Again, I just don't get it.

These “offers” mean they were admitted academically. And then either the kid or the recruiting team at Columbia puts in their bio that Oklahoma “offered” Heath. Or Bama “offered” Martin. Or Notre Dame “offered” Mcgarry. They sure as heck did not offer any of them a football scholarship. All p.r. hype

I do not think your explanation is correct.

None of these players were offered scholarships at those Power5 schools - they were all offered preferred walk-on spots (same thing as an Ivy spot - admission only). All the offers at other Ivys are legitimate though, because the offer of admission is the only thing football programs can offer

Time to focus on Brown. We need to get off to a fast start; quotes my their coach should be posted on our bulletin board about how they feel good about their game with us. And why shouldn’t they after the Yale meltdown and the Harvard debacle. Hopefully we have a game plan for slowing down their QB. I am concerned about our defensive backfield not being at full strength. McCombs is not on the two deep. Plus the weather is supposed to be rainy.

Rain would be good for us. Make throwing harder and put the game on the ground, where they have stopped no one all year. Tough to stop their aerial show if McCombs doesn't play and 9 is not healthy.

Looks like Tomlin is on the two deep—I’m looking forward to seeing him play. If it does rain I would like to see more of Hollingsworth in the wildcat. He would be hard to bring down in the rain.

Heath’s only other Ivy offer was from Cornell. I know that for a fact.
