Chris Cicilioni
I told you the incoming commit news would start coming in fast and furious and it is.
Just after learning of commit #5, (chronological order here), we learn early this morning about commit #6, Chris Cicilioni from Valley View High School in Scranton, PA.
Chris played on both sides of the line as a guard and a defensive end, but at 225 pounds I expect him to play defense only at Columbia.
Here's a link to his highlight video.
He was reportedly also recruited by , Colgate, Harvard, Georgetown and the University of Pennsylvania
Cicilioni will be the first documented Valley View HS player to come to Columbia football.
That brings the list of known commits to six:
1.Chris Cicilioni G/DE 6-2, 225 lbs. Valley View HS, Scranton, PA
2. Andrew Dobitsch, WR 5-11 180 lbs. Northern Valley HS Tappan, NJ
3. Michael Gerst, RB 5-10 190 lbs. Bergen Catholic, Bergen County, NJ
4. Daren Napier DT 6-4 275 lbs. St. John's HS Houston, TX

Chris Cicilioni is another terrific get for the Lions. He's very fast, strong and an excellent tackler. I see him playing either defensive end or linebacker at Columbia. With the name "Cicilioni," Chris was born to play football for the Columbia Lions."
Comes for the same high school as formed Lion Jim Wascura, Class of 1970. Tough program, great get.
Jim, thanks so much for the heads up. I will soon add both names to my "Lion Feeder" blog that documents every feeder high school.
AAA 3d team all state; 70 tackles; 14 sacks; 4 forced fumbles; and 4 fumble recoveries.

Jim, I have Wascura as being from Blakely HS in Peckville, PA.
Blakely HS merged into Valley View HS in the 70's along with two other small school districts. Blakely people consider Valley View their school. So you are correct about Jim's school originally, but this is its successor. The school is offically located in Archbald, Pa.
Interesting note .... Chris Ciciloni is Jim Wascura's 2nd cousin .... Jim, '70C, was a 3-yr starter .... Jim was the strngest Lion during those years and protected Lion great Marty Domres for 2 of those 3 seasons .... Blakely HS won something like 49 games in a row .... they had 300 kids in the school and played schools with 1500 kids .... they were areal powerhouse in NE PA ....
Another note on the Wascura-Cicilioni family .... Jim's brother, Tommy, made the 1968 Pennsykvania All State team and played in the Big 33 game .... lightning fast speed for an OG/DT at 4.6 .... played college football at Middle Tennessee State where he played against Too Tall Jones
Jim remains a steadfast supporter of CU football.
