Chip Kelly

Kelly's Rise

In the latest case of "six degrees of separation," former Columbia assistant Chip Kelly has been hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the new head coach.

Of course that job was available because of the poor results turned in by former Bucs Head Coach Raheem Morris. The same Raheem Morris who foolishly let Pete Mangurian go as offensive line coach last year, freeing Mangurian up to be Columbia's new head coach this year.

Waiting for More...
Keep your eyes on this space as another recruiting weekend has wrapped up on campus and we should be getting a flurry of new commitment announcements today or slighlty later in the week.
For what it's worth, Coach Mangurian and those recruits were present Saturday night to see a thrilling men's basketball win over Cornell.

Dibilio Latest
Good news on the Chuck Dibilio front: he's showing good signs of recovery so far. But no one is saying anything about whether he can return to football this year or beyond.

Ivy Leaguers in the Super Bowl

With the Giants punching their ticket to the Super Bowl last night,  Kevin Boothe of Cornell and  Zak DeOssie of  Brown join that rare group of Ivy alums who have been to multiple Super Bowls.

Kelly apparently backed out of the deal and is staying at Oregon

Haven't we recruited other players from Brophy?

Seyi Adebayo is from Brophy. It's a very good football program.

Still looking for size in this class. Need some BIGGER kids! Have Coach Lempa contact June Jones at SMU and see if he have any transfers (thinGS, like John Robinson)...

Agree we need more overall size on defense, but Daren Napier will help at 6'4" 260. Also, both linebackers are already 230+ On offense, Stock is a very highly rated center from Ohio who goes 270. Let's see who else is in the new class before we make any judgments.

Coach Mangurian made a terrific halftime speech to the Columbia students and fans at the Columbia-Cornell Basketball Game Satruday evening. He certainly got everyone's attention and support including the Columbia Band members who seem to love him.
