Stretch Drive

Head Coach Pete Mangurian tweeted this week that we have two more weeks of hard work to do before we complete the recruiting process for the freshman class.

First off, let's recap who we reportedly have coming in already:

1. Toure Douglas, WR 6-4 188 lbs. Vineland HS, Vineland, NJ
2. Cameron Nizialek, K/P 6-3 195 lbs. Freedom HS, South Riding, VA
*3. Brent Nottingham, QB 6-4 212 lbs. Monte Vista HS, Danville, CA
4. Kendall Pace, OL 6-5 250 lbs. Bishop McNamara HS, Forestville, MD
5. Will Peoples, S 6-1 190 lbs. Buckingham, Browne & Nichols, Cambridge, MA

*=Transfer from Stanford University, junior status.

Now, here are a few names of players on our radar. Obviously, this is woefully incomplete.

The good news is we're poised for an avalanche of new names in the coming days.

-Lucas Holder, a 6-5 265 lbs. OT from Hicksville, VA.

-Kyle Hopewell, a 6-2 242 lbs. QB from Newport, NC

-D'Amani Grayer, a 5-9 170 lbs. "athlete" from Brophy Prep near Phoenix, AZ

-Eli Dawson, a 6-5 230 lbs. DE from Hudson, OH

-Brandon Cooper, a 6-2 260 lbs. defensive end from Grand Prairie, TX
(Cooper is being pursued by just about every Ivy school)

-Aidan McNamara, a 6-4 285 lbs. OL from Madison, WI

-Tom Spiteri, a 6-2 280 lbs. DT from Wyndmoor, PA

-Austin Loomis, a 6-1 225 lbs. LB from Edmund, OK

Nicholas Bookout, a 6-2 180 lbs. DB from Gulf Breeze, FL

-Luke Taffuri, a 6-2 215 lbs. LB from Scottsdale, AZ

-Micah Breland, a 6-2 218 lbs. LB from Tukwila, WA

-Trent Cortazzo, a 6-0 220 lbs. LB from Mesa, AZ

-Devon Dunn, a 6-0 180 lbs. QB from Mission Hills, CA

You've got Nottingham listed at 2212 lbs. If only that were true...

Great Stuff Jake, thanks! Still need some BIG TEs! Where is the breakaway speed. Good news on the kicker is that he's good! O-Line is left up to the expert; let's just hope they gel better this year (and put on good size).

Devon Dunn, QB, Alemany, Sr. - A two-year standout, Dunn completed 59.2 percent for 2,956 yards and 27 TDs in addition to rushing for 455 yards and seven TDs.

Dunn's list is long, apparently hasn't visited.

I see 1 kid from the midwest! That is low given I am biased and think there is great football there. (Wo kids from my high school, both going to holy cross, would have been great kids for the program, but CU was nowhere to be found.

No idea if they applied to Columbia, but Nick Melka and Zach Olinger's younger brothers look like good prospects. Scout.com also lists West Coast prospect, Mason Bryant, as visitng Columbia next. Scout. com has also reported that another West Coast prospect, offensive guard, Garrett Strohmaier, was in for a visit last month.

At least two tights ends from New Jersey --Hayes of Lawrenceville and Flanagan--have been mentioned by the recruiting services as being interested in Columbia. Several uncommitted quarterbacks from California have been mentioned and at least one outstanding running back on the running back.

Is it smart to discuss possible prospects on this site before they've committed. Won't that make it easier for other Ivy coaches to poach?

I fully agree with Lion58 and have been saying so for a long time.

The horse is out of the barn fellows. The scouting services are all over this stuff. Most of what is on the site is easily found elsewhere. We have a great school, a great location and a great story. We should be able to recruit without secrecy!

Surely Lion58 and the oldLion are jesting as every interested Raeal college football fan knows that information on recruits is published daily on hundreds of websites throughout America, including most prominently Rivals and Scout.com. All of the Ivy League schools have recruiting coordinators who know the names of every junior and senior high school player who has expressed interest in any Ivy League school. Of course they have the SAT scores of the kids. Finally, the names and visit dates of applicants are widely disseminated. Actually, it would help Columbia Football recruiting tremendously if more Columbia Football Fans showed an interest in recruiting and discussed applicants on line.

Hi there! This post couldn't be written any better! Reading through this post reminds me of my previous roommate! He constantly kept preaching about this. I am going to forward this article to him. Pretty sure he's going to have a great read.
Thanks for sharing!
