Nice news. But it's not quite as exciting if I can't actually see the Lions in action. Where are the semis and finals held for this one, Jake? I do assume that the game will at least be televised, given how many sports channels I get.
Here's a tidbit which, if true,(and it should certainly be verified before anyone jumps all over it)would shed even more light on CU's attitude towards sports. It is lifted from the website described above, as follows: "Brown has a home game in the CIT because their athletic department was willing to pay approximately $35,000.
Columbia could have chosen to make the same payment."
I am skeptical, but if this is truly the reason Brown is home and we're away, someone needs scalping.
As has already been pointed out (on Voy, I think), our students will be on spring break, so it's very understandable not to have a home game. Plus the excitement of making such a trip, especially on break, is fun for the players

I surmise that the Ivy's all have similar break schedules, and if so, Brown and Yale have opted to play home games regardless of breaks. And how would a spring break have any effect on a game? Players still have to be away from their own homes, and any player would rather play on his own court. Especially given our significant W/L record @ home vs. away. No, something smells. Our overall record is far superior to either Brown or Yale, as is our RPI rating. Why aren't we in Levien?

Just lifted from the Las Vegas Sun: "NIT projections are not an exact science, but most of them have UNLV and its No. 102 RPI on the outside looking in. However, if the Rebels do end up receiving an invite, they would head on the road.
It’s difficult to put a percentage on it, but it’s certainly more likely than not that the Rebels won’t make the NIT. And if they don’t, my guess is UNLV has played its last game this season.
The CBI and CIT are completely unnecessary creations that end up costing athletics departments money without offering much benefit. Programs have to pay between $30,000 and $60,000 to host one of these games and often don't recoup those expenses."
I guess someone didn't think a solid shot at a 20 win or more season was worth the money. And that pisses me off. What do all of you think?
Sounds like there is a bottleneck somewhere in the leadership. If it is the AD herself or whoever it is, that is what needs to be identified and removed. I get the impression the lack of spring football updates is the result of this bottleneck as well. It's not someone trying to avoid this blog's reaction. You see it in corporate life all the time. Somewhere, someone is a single point of failure. Maybe everything has to be approved by that person before posting and it never gets done. Maybe there was an opportunity deadline to host a home basketball game but the call was not returned. That kind of thing.
Any additional post season games for a team with no seniors is a good idea. It gives us additional opportunities to work on perceived shortcomings which became evident in the Harvard and Princeton game, and it gives Coach Smith a chance to see what guys like McComber and Pertasek can do without the pressure of a league game.
I see differing opinions here, but IF a home game is preferable, wouldn't paying the fee to the organizers be not much more than flying the players, coaches et al. to Indiana and back? Seems to me they have to fly to Chicago or Indianapolis and then bus to Valpo. All that costs something.
So do we root for Harvard or Cincy on Thursday? I really find it tough to pull for Harvard in anything, althouugh I understand that it is good for the league for them to make a respectable showing.

Brown has a terrible, dreary basketball facility badly in need of updating. So I could understand paying someone $35,000 to play there.
I just want to see the Lions win Tuesday. Even if they have to go to Indiana to do so.

I always root for the Ivy team, until we play against them.
I hope Harvard goes all the way, or at least pulls a Princeton and knocks off a high seed.
