BREAKING: Two Valpo Seniors OUT

Looks like Valparaiso will be without two seniors tonight in the game against the Lions.

One is Jordan Coleman, who is a decent 3-pt. shooter and averaged 8.1 points per game. The other is Bobby Capobianco, a big man who scored 6.3 points per game. Both were good foul shooters.

Capobianco's absence could be a key to the game, as Lion Head Coach Kyle Smith has been talking about Valpo's strong front line.

Valpo has been on a losing streak. A winnable game for CU for sure

Insult to injury:
I'm tracking this on the net. But to my surprise (sarcasm),the game is NOT broadcast on WKCR. Wow. This says wonders about priorities.
I love jazz and listen to WKCR quite often, but to play 40 year old chestnuts while we are in our first post season game in 45 years is a total and unfortunately typical slap in the face for CU sports.
Shame on you, WKCR.

A win with 1 second on the clock!
Way to go, Lions.

First 20 win season since '68.

No thanks to CU. Jeez, what boneheads. The kids overcame the built-in stupid away-game disadvantage. God bless them.

This time they get the no call. Easily could have been an offensive foul prior to the last shot.

MVP of the game for CU was #23. Sweet shooting and working the perimeter.

I have not seen other games this season but I am wondering if this is normal for them. How does this team manage to win games with no inside game? Their big man (#23) does not appear to be a big rebounder. They have to rely on outside shooting and the occasional drive. They did not break Valpo's defense and for the most part had poor shot selection. Too many forced shots. One outlandishly beyond 3 point range.

Still nice to have a good one on one clutch shooter on hand at the buzzer.

To beat anyone really good we need to rebound better..
Corey Osetkowski, had his best career scoring game with
21, 15 in the second half that really carried us, but if the box score is correct he had zero rebounds, on O and D.
Strange for any 6-11 guy, although you can't complain about someone who broke out on offense like that.
Something to work on though.

We will have a big problem next season with basketball -- too many good players!! I can hear the clarion cries now..."Break up the Lions!"

I saw the game. Valpo had had a very, very strong post player who took away much of our inside game. Rosie went down early and looked wobbly. So we were playing with our best scorer and our best inside player basically at half strength. We were also playing without Grant Mullins, who IMHO is an important part of our backcourt. While I think we need more of an inside game to knock off Harvard, the rest of the pieces are there. Excellent road win against a very good and athletic team.

Lo's D was moving all the time, so a no-call was easy.

He had the most RBs, 8, on either team. He and the other guards often seem to be in the right place this year.

There have been many, many, MANY bad phantom offensive fouls called. You never know what the ref is going to do. It was refreshing to see this ref crew let it go in the final seconds. They had their heads in the game the whole way. A well ref'd game.

The entire Valpo D played very well throughout. Again, I have just seen CU play 1 game but they need an inside presence for O and D. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the next game.
