My first reaction is WOW. Bishop Gorman is a powerhouse with a run of Nevada state championships. Though a quick check and this lad has not played much. Still, a fine young man who hopefully can develop at Columbia.
We suck, we suck, we suck. We have one kid who blew out his knee, this kid who was the back up, and a few kids from Illinois. Who the hell would come without knowing who the coach is and knowing the history? I would love to hear this sales pitch. Probably something like this..you will start as a frosh because after going 0-20 we need a spark. More like jumper cables.

Though Hong lost his starting position to super soph/junior Tate Martell (Wash. Huskie recruit)he still managed to have an amazing 80% completion rate (79.3 to be exact) his senior year and retained his 3-star rating with Scout. Will probably be our most accurate passer, very good player.
I really wonder about the negativity of some of the people who blog here. Now that Mangurian and Murphy are gone, what good does it do to add comments like "we suck..."? Is it intended to help us get better? If it isn't how about giving us at least a fighting chance to avoid having other coaches point out some of the negativity as a reason not to come here.
I don't think the defeatist attitude at CU is much of a secret. The right coach we hire is going to come here knowing full well what the general attitude is and that we have a terrible history of a losing culture.
And the thing is most good coaches won't take a job if they think they are set up for failure.
Therefore, if we have any chance of turning this around our President is going to need to demonstrate to the new coach that he is aware of the past and he is committed to changing things. We will also need to be sure to show to the prospective new coach that we are willing to financially commit to making things change, both for the coach, his staff, and the overall football budget.
We do all that and we will have no problem hiring a qualified coach who wants to be the savior here.
We have been waiting for over a month now to see what Lee and his people are going to do and the suspense is killing me. I was very optimistic aftert he meeting with Taylor but that seems like ages ago at this point and all we have to show for it since is the one email from Dianne... At this point the longer this drags out the more skeptical I am that it will ever change.
Coach, are you talking about signing day on feb 1? Correct me if mistaken but that is the first day of the signing window which runs through April. Most scholarship players sign early in the window to lock in their offer.
In Columbia's case it seems a given, at least this year, that the pool of available players are those who just want to go to the school with football as an extracurricular. You get those types anyway but to really recruit and get the attention of quality commits, those guys have already made up their minds on other programs. Columbia gets who they get. Top down roster has decent players overall but mostly out of their depth again in '15.
If there is going to a serious turnaround it will be at least 2-3 seasons to see results.
Alswingman- Columbia could have had a coach and should have had coach in place within 3 weeks after Pete resigned. This was an administrative failure, and those who suffer the most are our current players. Aside from a few, it's hard to believe that the football alums put up with this.
I am as skeptical of the admin as anybody at this point but let's see what happens before we completely crucify them.
Jake nails it with regard to transfers, and there are plenty of Ivy caliber players out there pondering low D1 and Patriot like offers. If financial aid is actually going to help out we can still bring in a decent class this year...

A high % of recruits at the Ivies are rated 3 stars and higher. Does anyone have the ratings of our recruits?

Players being recruited by the Patriot League have about 10 days to make their decisions. Does not leave our new Head Coach much time .

Yes - the national signing day- which is, I believe , Feb. 5?
