National Signing Day has little binding meaning for the
Ivies as we do not use Letters of Intent.
But it does tend to shake out some more names of players
committing to football, at least verbally.
So, we’ll all be keeping an eye out for that news as the day
goes on.
For now, I wanted to update out current known commit list.
Michael Hinton
Last week, some other fans noted that Michael Hinton, a 6-4/221 pound DE
from Reynolds HS in Winston-Salem, NC.
Based on my Lionfeeders all-time Columbia football recruiting database, Hinton would be the
first documented Reynolds grad to come to Columbia football.
Here's a a nice short article about Hinton and how he only started playing football to make him a better basketball player.

Also Ryan Suitt, 6-1/175
pound QB from All Saints Episcopal HS in Fort Worth, TX has also committed to
Columbia. Suitt joins former teammates Charlie
Flores and Markham Pakune at CU and is the third-ever All Saints grad to
come to the Lions.
Suitt is a running QB, and if you’re the kind of person who
likes to know about “stars,” Rivals rates him as a two-star recruit.
And then there’s 6-2, 290 pound OL Cole McDonough from Bel Air HS in Maryland. McDonough will be the
first Bel Air grad to come to the Columbia football program.
Oh, and one more late add!
6-6 275-pound OL Peter Szymanski also committed to Columbia.
Peter is from Maine South HS outside of Chicago and he would be the 5th Maine South grad to come to the Lions. the first since RB David Chao '12.

It is my understanding that a new Head Coach in the Ivy League is bound the recruits who are committed. I know when Reno took over at Yale, he pulled many offers from the previous staff.
I'm intrigued with having 3 freshmen QBs with potential but discouraged only 1 widebody to add to a miserable OL. Until they fix that the fastest guy will have to be QB since that is all they will be able to do, or hand it to the fastest RB. That was their strategy last year giving it to Molina every down. Gets a little predictable and ineffective.
We have 20 commits. We will have to smoke out the additional committed recruits on our own. Remember that Mangurian brought in 34 last year; that means he "borrowed" 4 from the rolling average of 30 a year permitted by the IL over any 4 year period.
Didn't we lose a kid to Yale PM's first yeear here? a QB I think?
Sorry for the spelling- new Head Coaches are not bound to the recruits that committed until an official acceptance.
