More Texas Talent

Paul Akere

6-4, 210 pound DE Paul Akere from Hebron HS in Carrollton, TX has committed to Columbia.

If that name is familiar, it should be. Paul's older brother David is graduating this spring after four stellar years at Georgetown, where he's been a standout defensive back. In fact, he was the leading tackler for the Hoyas in last fall's Columbia win over Georgetown here in New York with 11 tackles and one pass breakup. In the 2016 game, Akere had 11 tackles and an INT he returned for 25 yards. The year before he had seven tackles against CU.

Paul was named to his All District First Team for this past season.

He will be the first Hebron grad to come to Columbia Football.

Looks like CU is putting together a great class for '22.

Akere reminds me of the DE from Brooklyn who had a great season for us in 2015; I just cannot remember his name. As I recall he was about the same size (on the light side) when he was recruited and became a wrecking ball by the time he was a senior.

So when does the overall evaluation comparison on these various classes come out?

Not that it's a prediction, but I'd be interested in knowing the general national opinion of our results.

You’re thinking of Toba Akinleye

Apparently Princeton has the number one FCS class, led by a four star QB from California and several three stars. But it looks to me that we have a really strong group, and I have heard Al say that there isn’t a world of difference in incoming Ivy classes because the key is player development.
