Another RB

Another Cincinnati running back is coming to Columbia.

6-0, 215 pound Chris Schroer from Elder HS has just Tweeted his decision to commit to the Lions.

Mike Dyer, who writes one of the best HS football recruiting columns in the country, had high praise for Schroer back in September.

Schroer is the third documented Elder HS grad to come to Columbia football, but the first since Paul Myers '85.

You can see his highlight video here.

And here in a preseason interview.

He looks like an interesting prospect. I'm no coach but my armchair analysis based on his clips is he is a standup runner. I wonder how that style will shape up in college. He needs to learn how to run at "pad level" as they say. Maybe one of the coaches on this board can chime in. Could be he is overconfident/reliant on his size and strength. I find it hard to believe a coach would teach him to run standup style.

Jake....I noticed you said "another" Cincinnati RB, Raye-Redmond is from Trotwood, OH, maybe 150 miles from Cincinnati.

I'm wondering how easy it is for an OL to make the switch to defense. We seem to have a surfeit of OLs now and just one or two larger DLs capable of stopping up the middle. Thoughts?

The Mountain Lion on voy.com reports "Charlie Flores, a 6-4, 290, offensive lineman from All Saints Episcopal HS in Fort Worth, Texas has just committed to Columbia."

I haven't been able to confirm this yet.

Nothing wrong with an embarrassment of riches at OL. You need depth and not all of those guys will add up to consistent players. It is best to play the averages. Maybe they will move guys to DL, who knows. If Pete can prove that he can win doing it his way, let us eat crow, I mean cake.
