Two Additions

Marc Raye-Redmond and family

A RB recruit I challenged the CU coaching staff to successfully recruit has indeed committed to Columbia.

Marc Raye-Redmond, posted a picture on his Twitter account announcing his decision yesterday.

The 5-11, 172 pound RB comes to us from Trotwood-Madison HS in the greater Cincinnati area the greater Dayton are.

He had offers from Brown and Davidson as well.

You can see his highlight video here.

(By they way, did anyone else notice the dominating offensive line Trotwood-Madison has in those highlights? Please tell me we're trying to recruit them too!)

Hagen Patterson, #17

6-2, 230 pound LB Hagen Patterson from Travis City HS in Texas has also committed to Columbia, according to his coach's Twitter feed.

Travis City is rising junior DB Brock Kenyon's alma mater. He and Patterson are the first two players from that school to play for CU.

You can see Patterson's highlight video here.

And here's an article about Patterson's charitable efforts for a friend in need after Hurricane Isaac hit Louisiana in 2012.

Jake you have to give PM and staff some credit. I heard they had a very good weekend. Also picked up Charlie Flores from same school as Markham Paukune. This class is looking pretty good!

I am impressed they got Raye-Redmond. I thought Brown had him in the bag.

How would any of us really know how good any of these recruits are or that the class is looking pretty good?

I'd love to see some wide DLs join the list. Loving the depth on OL but I fear we're missing depth up front on defense.

Fingers crossed, gang. None of us have any clue what will happen with these kids. Let's just hope for the best.

Who knows? PM may be a recruiting Superstar. Or not. '14 will tell the tale in many ways.

Pete and staff are showing they are not going down without a fight. They acknowledge the OL issue is imperative. If the OL was not addressed this offseason they may as well forfeit every game since there would be zero chance of success. Pete had no choice but to bring in a serviceable new group of big bodies in hopes a few guys click. They still need more depth at receiver, a true blocking TE and a FULLBACK. I want to see a ball control offense. Hand it off to Matt Snell and work the clock.

The D is still questionable unless they keep their foot on the gas with the signings. They need another 5 to 10 guys ready to play on D and special teams.

That said, I have not followed CU football recruiting very closely before so I don't know how this class compares to previous ones. Perhaps my slight optimism is misplaced.
