Whoever made the decision made the call they don't mind taking a loss. There is 30 or 35K fee to host. If the students are not around to fill the place (presumably they would have a ticket discount) then they are relying on NYC basketball faithful, fans and alumni to buy tix.
That photo of the super-happy players at game's end has to be one of the greatest in CU sport's history. Kudos to the photographer...anybody know who took it?
The buck, final decision rested with the AD. Full stop. No speculation.
Why she made it, say advice, pressure you tried to muster, is irrelevant and unknown. You'd have showed yourself in a better light just saying she did it, not being vague.
There are 2 inescapable facts regarding game locations. Fact 1: Unless the reasonable explanation requested by so many as to why the admin put a possible 20 win season in harm's way by playing away is forthcoming, we must accept that CU completely blew an opportunity to provide a significant advantage to the team. This kind of thinking is an indicator of overall CU attitude.
Fact 2: Now that we have 20 wins, everything else is a bonus. Based upon Smith's comments, there was no expectation of playing game 2 at home. So something happened to change certain minds re location. I am fairly certain that alumni reaction played a role.
Unfortunately, RLB, until CU ceases its arrogant stonewalling and non-communication, the only alternative is intelligent speculation. They will continue to be judged by their actions, or non-actions. They will continue to be judged by their success, and their failure. I said many months ago that CU treats alumni and fans like mushrooms. They keep us in the dark and feed us ****. My opinion hasn't changed. (Except for the baseball coach)
Dawg, your simile about the mushroom tells it all. Where I live, the papers and TV cover the college teams as much as the pros, and have virtually as much access to coaches and players as they do with pro teams.
Granted, a perpetually losing college program is not going to attract a lot of media attention. But that's precisely why The U should be more forthcoming. Instead we have a void bigger than ones our opponents run and through.
Typo alert: "run and pass through." But you get the idea. When the media ignores you, the fans have nothing but an apathetic and secretive Admin to rely on for info. Sounds like a peasant in Stalin's Soviet Union.
They (CU) just don't get it. They may (unlikely) have been doing everything perfectly or at least trying to, but when they completely and regularly disrespect the one constituency that cares about their efforts by not communicating, how do they think they will be judged. There is such a backlog of arrogance, arbitrariness and thick headed stubborn dumbness that it is breathtaking. We might as well have Grayson Kirk running things again. CU admin to CU: "Let them eat cake"
I don't think that the criticism should encompass Kyle Smith. while he doesn't blog or tweet, he certainly makes himself available to campus media outlets, etc.
Re Kyle Smith, he speaks to the media and communicates as one would expect a coach to do. He is also successful. I referred essentially to the decision-making process and communication of same of the admin, as well as an un-indicted co-conspirator.

I hope they don't play VMI. They scored more points in he first half of their game then CU scored total against Valpo.
Not doubt, you're congratulating the AD, Jake.
RLB:
So let me get this straight... when I was insisting that we do what we can to get a home game, you accused me of "speculating" and blaming the AD.
Now that we do have a home game, you want me to speculate that the AD is responsible?
Either way, I think I have it all covered when I congratulated all who were involved in the post above.

Geez, Yale wins with a 3, 1 second on the clock.
Lions to play Eastern Mich., Sat., 7:00. Perhaps a reason it will be at Levien is that EMU's first tournament game drew under 400.
EMU's tournament opener was at home vs. Norfolk State.

1. No
2. Pure speculation.

Although there are exceptions like the basbeall and hoops coaches, Big Dawg is right on
