Report Date

The official report date for 2014 Columbia football training camp is August 19th.

Usually, the players don't get out on the field for a real practice until at least a day later.

Above all else, this summer's camp MUST do something to improve the fundamental play of the team.

The butt-to-butt tug of war drills and all the other nonsense need to go.

Otherwise the Lions won't just continue to lose, someone is going to get really hurt.

And something has to be done to solve the crisis situation on the offensive line. If that means having to shift people around after seeing what they can do in a practice or two, the coaches must do just that.

And we need to get some kind of inkling from the staff and players that the message has been received, proof that they know they need to do something to make us believe this season will be different.

The last thing I would do is suggest to a staff how to run their pre-season camp. But I do know this; the lack of critical fundamentals (which I personally have never seen to this extent on any CU FB team as I saw last year) must be addressed.
Whether the kids "forgot" what they learned in HS or were never taught or didn't care, they need to know and execute the fundamentals of pass defense, line blocking, catching the ball, etc.

Basics, basics, basics.

butt to butt drills does not sound good-at-all.

Was he a starter? Offense? Defense? Did he play on the JV team? :0)

Pulling a rope is a football drill? Sounds like "holding."

Fordham reported last year, and they will again this year.
Imagine, Alma Mater being kicked around by Fordham,
and the official reaction is "ho-hum"

Jake does not have to be Lombardi to top this cast. he really only needs to be slightly better than Ronald Beard to outperform these coaches

DW, being that crass is beneath this Blog. Please try and be somewhat civil.

I'm not sure if you are a Staff member, Administrator, or part of the NHDC, but one thing is for sure, we won't be hearing from you when they (regretfully) go 0-10 and you will be packing your bags as well.
