Thanks for the video, Jake. New unis look good, better shade of blue, classic, more impressive, tougher, can only help.
Must admit I was underwhelmed after the first pictures, but I've changed my tune. I think the unis look great in this video. Love the stripes down the legs and the subtle drop shadow on the helmet C. The darker stroke around the numbers is nice, too. Well done.
The biggest upgrade is definitely the numbers — from the sidelines, I've always had a hard time distinguishing 0 from 8 (for example) because of the goofy drop shadow on the old kits. This should be much easier to read. A huge improvement.
Not bad, solid design. I would have liked a darker shade of blue within the light-blue range, which I think would make the team look tougher and meaner. ..
These days, a lot of college programs have moved away from their traditional team colors. It seems half the teams in the BCS conferences now have an alternate uniform, usually a black home jersey.
I think using Columbia blue as a highlight color is an aesthetically pleasing approach. Make the home uniform black with white numerals and Columbia blue trim. That would look fantastic. For example, that's exactly what Duke and Harvard basketball now do, home uniforms of black with white numbers trimmed with royal blue or crimson, respectively. They look great.
.... ever see the ball cap that Billy Campbell wears at games .... it's a dark bue cap with a white "C" ... not sure what era you are from but it was common in my era (late-60's) ...
But Red Tiger, not to belabor the issue but you're saying that the current helmets are "baby blue hats," when in fact they are white and only the block C is blue, n'est-ce pas?
... ahem ... I was talking about the color of the baseball cap that Campbell wears to the games, not the football helmets .... dark blue with white "C" ... I think it would look great to have a dark blu jersey with light blue lettering (similar tho the black jerseys that Harvard's bball team sometimes wears) ....
I understand now, RedTiger, but I don't think your intention was clear...maybe you should have said "caps" (which they are) instead of "hats" in your first post about this crucial issue.
I'm sorry but I feel compelled to take this to a higher court. You'll be hearing from my attorney (a former Penn linebacker, so start "quaking" in your boots).

So what your saying is you would have preferred that the team not wear Columbia blue...

hey ... even the old style dark blue hats with the white C look better than the baby blue hats ...
But RedTiger, the hats are white, yes? Only the letter is Columbia blue. So what are you referring to?
