BREAKING: Fordham's Edwards to coach DL

Darin Edwards

In another good poaching from a Columbia opponent, FootballScoop is reporting that Fordham defensive line coach Darin Edwards is coming to the Lions to coach the same position.

You can read Edwards soon-to-be-deleted bio here.

No one has to tell Columbia fans how fearsome the Ram defensive line has been, but of course Edwards and Fordham have the luxury of athletic scholarships to work with.

The bulk of Edwards' resume comes from his very good years at Sacred Heart, a program that's been on the rise for a while now.

Bags had said that he may seek a waiver to go off campus and fill the few additional slots still available for incoming players. Any news on that front? And PS, does he like being called Bags? Now that he's our guy, I want to drop the moniker if he doesn't appreciate it.

How about CAB (for Coach Al Bagnoli)
like a fine wine should get better with age !

Maybe add the title of "Don" instead of Bags.

Or as Paul Simon has put to music, call me Al.

The addition of a coach from Fordham onkt strengthens my belief that we should NOT drop Fordham (though Fordham of course may disagree), that it's nice to have an inter-city rivalry. As per, say, Penn vs, Villanova, or even Brown vs. URI. And Wagner just doesn't do it for me. (Knew someone who went to Wagner to play football and only lasted a year, his reports on the hazing and related nonsense, including animal abuse, made them sound more in the vein of Sayreville, NJ's notorious high school eleven than a serious college program. For what it;s worth too, Wagner's basketball team has always struck me as distinctly thuggish.))

That is surprising to hear about Wagner. They have been very competitive in a tough conference and an established coaching staff.

Yes wagner has. 2 championships in 3 years. 2nd round of ncaa playoffs for a school with 1800 students. 7 guys who have had pro shots in the last 4 years.
