I have been interviewing applicants for admission from Montclair HS for the College for over 25 years. I have seen fencers, soccer players and a few baseball recruits over the years. Never anyone for the football team.
The MHS football program is one of the better public hs programs in Northern NJ and regularly sees grads go off to major D1 programs. They play some big time local schools.
In addition, MHS has a lot of very bright motivated kids. Academically, the school sends around 15 kids to the Ivies every year and tons of other first rate colleges.
Finding that rare individual who can thrive in the class room and on the field is a tough assignment but its encouraging to hear that Columbia is reaching prospects in a place like Montclair High.

Why arent we getting more kids from the New England schools like Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, etc? Academics are there....is it the level of play is too low?
