Game Day Open Thread

Post here for any thoughts you have during today's game at Georgetown.

One possible piece of news is that Hoya defensive star J'V'on Butler is listed as a backup in the late-released Georgetown two-deeps, (http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/gu/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2016-17/release/release.pdf).

It could mean nothing, it could mean he's a little banged up, or it could be some of the usual two-deep trickery most teams seem to use these days.

Listening to the game. Curious if anyone is feeling as depressed as I am about this one yet.

There is always hope. A different team played for us in the second half.
I disagree with the 4th down gamble with 4 minutes left. The kid returner needs someone to tell him when the punts land 10 to 20 yards in front of you ALL DAY; you need to move up and field them on the fly or take a fair catch. He will be great some day!

Great 2nd half effort! Time for Milstein to take over as PK. Missed FG (again) really hurt. Both OL & DL were excellent. Too many turnovers (4) did us in..........

They need much quicker execution and a higher degree of efficiency than what they are getting at QB.

A tale of two halves: one depressing, the other full of opportunities.
Very impressed with how the defense came together after halftime. Handed several short field chances after 17-14,the Hill-led offense stalled repeatedly. Is Skylar hurt? Silver lining: its not an Ivy Game, but one we coulda, shoulda, mighta...won. Princeton may not hand us such invitations to paydirt. I think we can run on them though having watched Lehigh today. Should Wainwright be our only return man?

QB play sank us.

Mr Szathmary, I was too depressed and so turned the game off and went to bed prior to half time.

Looks like i missed a good second half.

This was about the score I thought it migbt be (before the game when i said we would win), but in reverse. Mistakes were the difference.

Now I am feeling iffy about the rest of the season. I hope the narrative wont be "they lost all their 8 games by less than a touchdown" as a sign we continue to improve

I agree with those who say our QBs are just not getting it done. I flicked over to watch the Penn/fordham game and the offenses there nust seemed to move faster and more crisply with QBs delivering the ball much more quickly

I am bummed out by this loss.

One play in particular stands out in the second half. Hollis beat his man deep but Hill didn't put enough air in the throw and threw it over the wrong shoulder. A properly thrown ball to Scooter's left would have been a TD. Wainwright will be a great weapon but needs to learn how to secure the football. Georgetown played error free ball. We had at least five whoppers. That is how team's with less talent win.

Gut punches when your D stops them but you fumble on the ensuing punt return (2 times) or you miss a 37 yard FG.

Gotta figure Bagnoli can calm #13 down so he is far more of a weapon than a liability. He does look like quite a threat.

If Milstein can shore up the <40 yard FG duty, wainwright can hold onto the ball, we can consistently win the special teams battle. Gotta give kudos to the punting team who twice pinned Gtown on the 1 yard line

I am less despondent after having watched the second half. Signs of a running game and spurts of an effective up tempo offense.

Agree old lion....our man was more open than theirs was but their qb hit in stride and ours sprayed it long and behind....that one mis throw is the difference between a W and an L

At this point, our progress should be measured in wins, not competitiveness. The competitiveness yardstick was OK for last year, but not now. We're supposed to be better this year. That's why this loss is so demoralizing.

The QB play was the most dis-spiriting to me. Wainwright's drops can be fixed and he will be a weapon. Maybe Al should gave some of younger QBs some playing time. Petlansky or Dame?
