For what it's worth

Yes, the continuing wait for an updated roster is stretching my writing topics pretty thin these days, so take this post with a grain of salt...

The Sagarin Football ratings that rank all 261 FBS and FCS football programs have been updated after last weekend's games and there are some interesting tidbits to discuss in them:

1) Week 4 opponent Marist is ranked 258th out of those 261 schools. It's the lowest ranking I've ever seen for a Columbia opponent at any time.

2) As you may recall, the week 4 home game against Marist was put into the schedule replacing a previously scheduled road trip to Wagner, (which Wagner is still peeved about... but I suspect that game will be made up at some point). Pin a medal on yourself if you guessed that Wagner is ranked 257th in the ratings, just a hair above Marist.

3) Columbia comes in at 193rd, which means little before the Lions actually play a game. Week 1 opponent Lafayette is ranked 228th.

4) Yale is the top rated Ivy team in the Sagarin rankings, followed by Princeton Dartmouth and Harvard. Columbia is 6th.

5) I can't wait to stop writing about this marginally meaningless stuff.

New roster is out—Painton is 310, other weight gains as well up and down.

Meant up and down the roster—significant gains in some cases.

And John Martin is down to 295!

But how could it be that with only one exception the weight of every player on the roster ends in either a 0 or a 5?
