On Target

Cam Dillon

Just when we thought Alex Felkins '23 would be the most talked about Columbia grad transfer in college football this weekend, Cam Dillon '22 made major waves for his role in Duke's stunning 28-7 win over Clemson last night.

The targeting call against Dillon that still ended up in a crucial loss of the ball on downs for Clemson had some Duke fans taking to social media to proclaim the linebacker a hero for sacrificing himself for the team.

If you're surprised that Dillon was even still on the Blue Devils, you should be. Dillon ended last season not expecting to return for a second year in Durham, but he changed his mind just before spring practice. Dillon had one more year of Ivy eligibility and two more years of NCAA eligibility left when he grad transferred from CU after the 2021 season.

Coincidentally, Duke's next game is this Saturday vs. Columbia's week one opponent Lafayette. Dillon will have to sit out of the 1st half of that cupcake game for the Blue Devils. How much we can learn about the Leopards from watching that game is debatable, but we'll check it out regardless.

And before anyone chimes in with a complaint about my focus on transfers, here's my daily reminder that the Columbia Football roster has STILL not been updated, impeding all of our abilities to focus on our players this year and likely starting nods, etc.
